If you're coming from NZ, is there any reason you aren't applying to Adelaide and CSU (and perhaps even JCU) as well? I understand if it comes down to being close to home, but it would increase your chances if you applied to those too and they are both much cheaper than Griffith. Griffith really depends on the year as the cutoff will vary, but certainly the NZ to Aus GPA conversion should work in your favour. Good luck :)

Do you happen to know your RA level? (ie. RA2 or RA3 etc)? The higher that number, the better your prospects are with a 96 ATAR for JCU, though even RA2 gives you a chance with a well-written application.

2420 would have just scraped you a JMP interview last year as a rural applicant, so fingers crossed (though there has been a bit of movement with UCAT scores this year, so you might unfortunately just find yourself on the wrong side of the cut off). ETA: whether you get Armidale or Newcastle will be up to your interview performance.

UNSW is difficult to say given you also have EAS, so keep your fingers crossed there, too.

JPM would have been a no last year, but who knows this year given the huge increase in rural places on offer.

Basically, keep your fingers crossed all round!!

Any reason why you aren't applying to other universities as well? You say you are a school leaver so you should be able to apply to pretty much all of them. That along with your rurality would put you in good standing for most (they often have lower atar and ucat cutoffs in case you didn't know). I can't comment much about your chances though, I'm not well versed in the rural scene unfortunately since there isn't much information and data. Hopefully someone else on the mod team can help you out.

I'm RA2- I have a few more questions to add on from what you've said...
although I have EAS at UNSW, is their UCAT cut off definitively 50th percentile for rural?
with JPM (WSU/CSU)- I thought the atar for rural students is 91 and the UCAT is quite low too or...I'm confused is the med course in Sydney and Orange the same thing or is one specifically for WSU and the other is CSU... ???
I'm also kinda confused about my uac preferences-which uni would I be better off putting as first or in what order, currently its JMP, WSU and UNSW (or does it not matter??)

The rural ATAR for JPM is around 93.5 IIRC. And last year, (when the course was just at WSU), the rural UCAT requirement was above what you have achieved, unfortunately. However, now that the course is spread across both WSU and CSU, they have added an additional chunk of rural places (more than doubling their previous intake) so the rural UCAT may drop low enough for you to snag an interview.

The UAC preferencing question should be asked in the UAC preferencing thread (though, to be honest, read through a few pages of that thread before asking, because it is a question that has been asked MANY TIMES already, so you will likely find the information you are after).

I was informed that the cut-off for an interview with UNSW is 50%ile rural applicants. 2480 last year 2520 this year. All considered including EAS applicants. Unless there has been some changes that I am unaware of so please fill me in. My bestie who scored just below the cut-off this year isn't applying altogether. I don't think it is going to change much. The enthusiasm for this course hasn't change at all from what I can tell tbh.

Unfortunately it looks like you won’t be getting an interview anywhere with your scores and lack of rurality. You may have to have another crack next year. Good luck regardless :)

Monash interview is more/less certain. UQ & Curtin are possible. Maybe borderline for Adelaide & JMP.
So yeah it's definitely worth preparing but you can leave it till after VCE exams?

Tough one with your ATAR. With SEAS/MG you'll be safe for a Monash interview. You may sneak a JMP and Adelaide interview but you'll be borderline for both, same with UQ. The other unis are probably out, unfortunately.

Did you miss my original answer to you or do you just not trust me? ;) You can’t apply to Monash because you have a tertiary study record, as I said in my response to your original post. RA2 would be considered “rural” by all unis that use the RA scale, for your info.

Your tertiary study record would make you ineligible for any Victorian university as Monash only accepts school leavers, and Deakin/UniMelb only accept grad entry students. If youre able to maintain that 7 GPA for the next two years you will be a competitive applicant for grad entry, especically considering youre a rural student.

You should get a Monash interview as a Vic local, but unfortunately will probably miss out on interviews at UAdel and JMP due to UCAT.
