Theres been a little bit of discussion, but in summary SA is restricting 50% of the interviews to SA School Leavers

and JMP is letting non-rural students of their BiomedSc degree get interviews at the rural scores, greatly reducing the amount of non-rural interviews avaliable

If youre interstate then your chances at Monash are borderline for an interview, but otherwise youre good for the rest. Great Job!

Excellent results! You'll get an interview at all of those except potentially Monash (how ridiculous that your scores could miss an interview anywhere!) and from there it will just come down to interview performance. Best of luck :)

With an ATAR like that I'm curious to know why you didn't just take a griffith offer instead? You would have definitely qualified there, even if you did poorly on your UCAT, or didn't do it at all

Congratulations on such a great set of scores! You should get an interview at: UADEL, CSU, UWA, USYD
A Place at: UQ, Latrobe, and JCU if you have a good written component
Congratulations again, and it is great to see more dent hopefuls B) Good luck!

Tough one with your ATAR. With SEAS/MG you'll be safe for a Monash interview. You may sneak a JMP and Adelaide interview but you'll be borderline for both, same with UQ. The other unis are probably out, unfortunately.

Good luck :)

Specific Question - It seems that the lowest ATAR recorded for an UNSW interview last year was 99.25. I’m not sure if MSO necessarily shows the lowest ATAR that is accepted by UNSW as people achieving 99.2 might not have had posted their invites here, but since IB scores are in increments, is a IB 42 (99.2) sufficient for an interview?

Traditionally UNSW combine ATAR with UCAT to a combo score to select interviewees. A few years back 99.95 with as low as 80%ile, or 99%ile with as low as 97.x could get interviews, however these scores were used again (in the combo after the interview) for place offers so they had very low chance of a high enough interview score to get an offer.

Last year UNSW introduced an ATAR cutoff of 99.25, which meant a 99.20 even with 99%ile would not get an invite. We don't know what this year's cutoff will be, it may drop a little however as explained above 99.20 combined with 90%ile doesn't give much hope.

Last year 90%ile was borderline for JMP & Adelaide interview, this year I suspect it will rise a little to make it tough for you. You could get invites from UQ and Curtin though.

Biding their time for home state med instead? Plenty have done so.
Yes but in that case why would you then be willing to settle for less eg. Monash or Adelaide (or arguably even JMP) as they are interstate after a year?

Are you international? Or an Australian citizen/resident? That might mean that you should be applying for the international pathways which usually have lower cutoffs (at least from what I can tell)

Monash/JMP are 5yrs, Adelaide 6yrs and possibly unbonded.
Griffith is 7yrs of HECS compressed into 6yrs and possibly given bonded afterwards.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place. I am a UK resident but found this forum very helpful so thought it would be good to provide my statistics.

This is my first time taking the UCAT, a little disappointed with my score since I was scoring 100-300 higher in mocks but competition in the UK is not very high, so I am content regardless.

My scores: 3010
VR: 600
DM: 710
QR: 870
AR: 830
SJT Band 1

I appreciate the users who responded to my concerns in the relevant threads, I will be around next year to lay down some tips I found helpful for QR and AR.

Kind regards, J

(P.S - time to start the party and obliterate my liver with the boys!)

Hey man! Are you wanting to apply for an Australian spot? Or are you just popping in to say hello? I was able to rattle on about your UCAT and how you need to give us an ATAR but evidently you haven't got one lmao

I'm an Australian citizen but was studying overseas. I'm just reaching here but is there any official information on UNSW's website that says their ATAR cutoff is 99.25?
