Applying for:
Medicine
Application Type: School leaver
Predicted ATAR/GPA: School doesn't give predictions but probably ~98 (ANU gave me 97.95 based on yr11)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 96
VR: 680
DM: 760
QR: 800
AR: 870
Total: 3110
SJ: 677
Possible WSU Formula Total (58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR): 738.2
Current State: NSW
Applying to: JMP, WSU, UTAS, UQ(?)
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: No
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: No
Specific Question: Just curious as to what my chances for interviewing at my unis is, also what ATAR I should really be aiming for in order to have a chance at non-hurdle schools? Also if you have any suggestions for other places I could have a chance at that would be great.

Another thing to note is that I have an offer for health science at ANU, which does have 50% acceptance rate into their med program (I have read the common pitfalls thread), but as I am interested in going into public health/health management/policy as my 'backup' career, I feel this course could be justified (?) despite being a health science course (which seems to be the biggest no-no of this site). Other pros of this course are that my brother will be living in Canberra and I won't be too far from home - I was just wondering whether I really should be applying to more schools or if I should take the pros of this course over the tiny chance I get accepted somewhere far away from home? idk if that made sense

You should get interviews at UQ, JMP, Adelaide.
WSU 738 is on the low side but who knows, pray they change the weightings away from VR this year.
Will need to push ATAR to probably 99.3+ to have a chance at UNSW, UWA, Curtin.

Obviously you will get interviews at all these schools.

Specific Question: What are my chances for UNSW and WSU? How well do I need to do in the interview?
- JMP's offer ratio is roughly 1 per 4 interviewees, taking into account a number of the top qualifiers will get first-pref UNSW/WSU or decline JMP for home state I'd say you need to "beat" 60-65% of the interviewees.
- WSU's offer ratio is roughly 1 in 3, given your 99th UCAT is weighted 25% of the final ranking I'd say you need to beat 55-60%.
- UNSW is also 1 in 3, with the interview combined with your top UCAT/ATAR/GPA you probably need to beat 30-40%.

Please take these numbers only as a guide, I deny any responsibility haha.

You should get interviews at both. Best of luck :)
Is it worth applying to bond???

Sorry, one more question, how much 'better' would a 95th percentile have to perform in interviews than a 99th percentile, or if raw scores are used, how much better would a 3000 have to perform than a 3300, given the 75:25 weighting for interview:ucat?

We'd need to employ a team of mathematicians to answer this accurately haha.
As a rough idea, say among the interviewee cohort a 3000 is 60 ranks below a 3300, the 3000 will need to interview 20 ranks better to equal (given the 3:1 weightings ratio).

EAS will help with UNSW, Monash as it's taken into account for offers . You should get interviews for UNSW , JMP , JPM in NSW . Interstate it's likely you could get offers for Griffith Nathan/GC & USC in QLD , Monash interview [With SEAS] , UMelb offer [FFP Guaranteed path] in Victoria, UAdelaide : Borderline Interview in SA. Not exactly sure how it works in WA.

Applying for:
Medicine and Dentistry (Hopefully dent though😁)
Application Type: Year 12 School Leaver
Predicted ATAR/GPA: Not certain, but hopefully mid-high 99 (99.95 is still in the picture)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 89th 🤥
VR: 700
DM: 750

AR: 800
Total: 2940
SJ: 656
Possible WSU Formula Total (58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR): 722.8
Current State: SA
Applying to: All med/dent courses (although realistically not expecting many offers)
Rural Applicant: no
GWS Applicant: no
Indigenous Applicant: no
Other: N/A
Specific Questions:
- Chances for UAdel Dent interview/offer?
- Considering my somewhat low UCAT score, what unis should I prioritise or am I most likely to get offers for?
- Is there any sort of 'strategy' with preferences, or should I just put what I want most, as first preference?

Thanks!

I think you'll get quite a few interviews. Your best chances in my opinion are Griffith Dentistry and Adelaide Dentistry [You have Melb Dent/Med in the FPP path as a back-up always].

SA
UAdel : Dent and Med Interview [Due to SA Quota for Med]
- High ATAR will help in Offers for Med/Dent
Flinders : if it's a 99.95 then you'll get an offer

Interstate : Best chances
Griffith Dent [Quite likely as the formula will favour your ATAR and it's FFP so likely UCAT cut-off is lower]
La Trobe Dent [If you get .95 offer, I think it might be lower than this if you get EAS but not exactly sure]

Medicine [You can also Apply to Bond and would be guaranteed interview]
- Griffith Medicine Offer [If you get. 75+ ] or USC
- U Melb Medicine Pathway Offer [Chancellor's Path if.95 , 99.0 + FFP ]
- U Melb Dentistry Pathway Offer [Chancellors Path if .95 , 99.0 + FFP]
- USYD Medicine [If .95 Interview]
- USYD Dent [if .6 above Interview]
- Melbourne Dent [.95 above Chancellors Path ,99 + Guaranteed FFP for Dent , ]

Strategy Wise : Choose what you want the most as your highest and you should be able to fit all of these in your preferences. If your ATAR is lower than it's not worth applying to Unis like USYD if you don't have E12 as they have strict minimums for Med and Dent of .95 and .5 respectively.

For UNSW /Monash your UCAT unfortunately is too low for interviews. However you should get Griffith Med/USC if you apply if the conversion is .8+, USYD Med if you get a .95 you could get an interview , or Melbourne FFP/Chancellor's path for Med [offer]

You should get an interview at WSU. Your maybe borderline for UNSW depending on how much EAS boosts, JMP it's unlikely if last years cut-off is an indication. Interstate, potentially Griffith if it's 99.75+. The other ones unfortunately are unlikely including UQ
