Applying for: Medicine
Application Type: Non-Standard (Graduated)
Predicted ATAR/GPA: 95.9 ATAR, 5.26 GPA (meet threshold for JPM and JMP)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 88
VR: 680
DM: 710
QR: 669
AR: 870
Total: 2920
SJ: 670
Possible WSU Formula Total (58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR): 715.4
Current State: NSW
Applying to: UNSW, JMP, JPM, JCU
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: Yes
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: No
Specific Question:
What are my chances for JMP, JPM, JCU and UNSW invites?
Any other unis I can apply to as a graduate?
I think JPM is your only realistic chance for an interview.
Can also apply to Curtin but again GPA+UCAT doesn't look promising, you can try though.

Applying for: Medicine
Application Type: School leaver
Predicted ATAR/GPA: ~98
UCAT Percentile Rank: unsure

Applying to: JMP, JPM, UNSW, UTAS, Curtin, UWA, Adelaide, South Australia
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: No
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: Applied for EAS
Specific Question: Should I bother preparing for interviews? Not hopeful after seeing the preliminary percentiles
Don't give up hope yet. If JMP cutoff drops back to its usual ~90%ile your 3000/92%ile can get an interview there.
Also if EAS boosts your ATAR rank to high 99s UNSW is possible. Good luck.

Specific Question: not entertaining much hope for western sydney, but is there a reasonable chance for newcastle? (thank you so much for doing this for all of us by the way!!)
You have more than reasonable chance for JMP interview, so start practising.
You didn't mention UNSW, is it because of your ATAR?

Depending on your unknown ATAR but I predict 88%ile rural you'll get more interviews than you can handle :)

(For general info, 60ish %ile rural used to walk straight into a UQ offer let alone interview).

You should get both JPM & JMP interviews.
If you have graduated Curtin is a possibility, GPA on the low side but hopefully UCAT 96th balances it up.
But for Curtin don’t I need to meet the chemistry prerequisites? I didn’t do science or biomed or even chemistry for VCE…

But for Curtin don’t I need to meet the chemistry prerequisites? I didn’t do science or biomed or even chemistry for VCE…
If you don't meet pre-reqs you won't be able to receive an interview. This is regardless of Selection Rank/UCAT. In saying this you can do bridging courses to meet these requirements. What course/when differs from uni requirements. In QLD you can also take an external exam though I'm not sure if that's the case in other states

Would you know the cutoff for SA school leavers or uni transfers for uAdel interviews? Do transfers and school leavers get in that much more easily than interstate applicants?
Just on my way out but if you have a look at the collated offers and collated interviews threads for last year there are heaps of locals and some tertiary transfers for you to get a rough idea from.

From memory, it was around 87th for school leavers.

i would’ve loved unsw since i’m a student there atm, but my atar was absolutely tragic (92 rip). thank you for your response though, it’s bringing up my hopes a little after seeing all these crazy high marks (good work everyone!!)
unsw now takes the 'best of' for their selection rank so will consider EITHER your atar or gpa, not both! with your gpa 7, that'll trump your atar so you should apply :)

The ‘best of’ only kicks in once you’ve met the hurdles. If you’re a non-standard applicant, that’s 96.00 ATAR AND 70 WAM.

UCAT Percentile Rank: 94th
VR: 740
DM: 880

Specific Question: What interviews could I be able to get? Would it be possible for me to be selected for Flinders medicine, UQ dentistry or La Trobe dentistry with these results based off past data?

- If you have the LOTE/Maths C bonus for UQ you'd be very well placed for UQ Dent. Same for Flinders if SATAC gives you the UES adjustment, otherwise Flinders is unlikely.
- I don't know much about LaTrobe to comment.
- For the other med schools, WSU Griffith Monash Adelaide are likely out, JMP UQ are highly probable, UNSW UWA Curtin dependent on your actual ATAR (99.4-99.5 should be yes i think).

Qwerty124 it was actually 71st for SA school leavers, 77th for tertiary transfers and 96th for interstate school leavers 😬😬

hey, thanks for the reply,
What UCAT is usually required to be selected for UQ dentistry (minimum or median), as I have the LOTE/Maths adjustment factors and therefore would be placed only behind raw unadjusted 99.95 achievers?

It's always worth applying if you have a space in your preferences and/or can afford to add another TAC into your application plan. But realistically, interstate applicants tend to require almost perfect results for Monash. You'll definitely get interviews at JMP and JPM. UNSW is harder to say on the basis of your UCAT. That said, there was a UCAT 94th ATAR 99.75 who interviewed last year, so fingers crossed :D
Thank you so much!
And, yep - fingers crossed!

In previous years when UQ Dent's cutoff was 99.0 to advance to UMAT ranking, the UMAT cutoff for a place offer was around 88th to 91st %ile. Now the ATAR cutoff is 99.95 meaning a lot fewer into the UCAT differentiating round, I can't imagine it will rise higher than your 94%ile.

Btw you'd only fall behind a raw 99.95 if they & you are equal on UCAT and compete for the last few places. Otherwise a higher UCAT still ranks higher than a raw 99.95 + lower UCAT (that's my understanding anyway).
