Applying to: UNSW, JMP, JPM, UWA, Curtin, UAdel, Monash
Rural Applicant: (No)
GWS Applicant: Yes
Indigenous Applicant: (No)
Other: (No)
Specific Question:
1) Thoughts on JMP & JPM interview invites in particular
2) Do you happen to know the GWS cut-off for first round offers for WSU/CSU last year.

Thank you so much for taking your time to respond :)
1. You should get interviews at both, though JMP will depend on the goal post not shifting too much (93rd was required last year).
2. GWS needed just over 700 last year for a first round interview invite, and just under 700 for a top up.

UNSW will use your ATAR or GPA whichever is higher hence your ATAR . You are competitive for all 3 universities and should receive an interview. You can also apply to Bond + JCU [Will need a stellar written application if they take your GPA into account].

Ooh really? I wasn't aware of that. I thought UNSW took a 50/50 weighting to atar and gpa, but if that's changed, brilliant!
UNSW will use the BEST OF method only once the minimum thresholds have been met and they are an AND proposition for a non-standard applicant. Your WAM must be above 70. If this is the case, then they'll use the best of criteria which will see them default to your stellar ATAR.

Specific Question:
Had a couple of mediocre in-school exams so kinda relying on the HSC to pull up my ATAR to above 99.5. With the absolute mess that is the NSW COVID situation (no in-person school etc), I'm becoming increasingly worried that my ATAR will fall around the 99.3-99.5 mark rather than the high 99s I was aiming for. What are my chances for interviews (especially interstate)? I know some unis use a z-score system that might advantage my UCAT score, but is it enough to make up for a less than stellar ATAR?

Sorry to burst your bubble but have a look at the 2021 UCAT percentile statistics, a 2960 is a 90th this year so you are just a touch under. With your combination, I think UNSW is possible with EAS, JMP is unlikely but JPM is possible since you are GWS, UWA is highly unlikely and UAdel is a no (cutoff was 96+ last year), monash is also a no because interstate residents need a .9 and a 95+ to even clinch an interview.
From your list, it looks like UNSW and JPM are your best bets.

For non-standard universities, give JCU a shot for dent and med. JMP is possible but JPM is unlikely. UNSW maybe. UQ dent is probable (wait have they removed it from being non-standard?). LaTrobe is unlikely as well.

You should get both JPM & JMP interviews.
If you have graduated Curtin is a possibility, GPA on the low side but hopefully UCAT 96th balances it up.

You should get an interview everywhere you apply except Monash dependent on your ATAR. I don't remember the exact scores for Monash interstates, probably around 99.5+ to get a look in.

You’ll get interviews at JMP, JPM, UQ, UNSW, UAdel, and Curtin. And if you get the mid-99, UWA, too. Monash will probably need a high 99. JCU will depend on your written application. UTAS will be worth a free application for a non-interview dependent option.

1. Yes JCU accepts gap year.
2. Prelim UCAT stats are 33/33/33 underestimate or overestimate or spot on :)
3. Based on 99.4 + 98th you should get an interview everywhere you apply except JPM due to your VR.

Sorry, I thought it dropped to 93rd, but just double checked. It was 96th last year. I hadn't heard about them dropping interview spots by 200 places though! Yikes.
Would you know the cutoff for SA school leavers or uni transfers for uAdel interviews? Do transfers and school leavers get in that much more easily than interstate applicants?
