I don't know too much about admissions but maybe you should apply for the JMP, too. I think you'd be okay with GWS because your S1+S2 is over 128 AND you're GWS.

As for UNSW - I'm not sure... maybe look at the offers thread last year collated by LMG! - Med Place Offers 2017 - Collated Data by LMG and the previous year offers. Perhaps the mods will have better info for you!

Are you an Adelaide local ? Do you have any rural, GWS status or any others that may provide bonuses? If no to both of those questions, unfortunately your score will not get you any interview offers around the country. If you can push your ATAR in the region of 99.80+, then you may have a few options such as Usyd, UniMelb, Griffiths and flinders. Other than that, have you considered applications for JCU and Bond med ( No umat) ; provided that Bond is a full fee paying place.

Also could one of the mods please move this post to UMAT 2017 Discussions thread? A1, LMG! , Mana ?? (Done! LMG! ).

You should get interviews at WSU, UNSW, and JMP (not necessarily UoN). JCU is a little more dependent on your written application.

Admission chances for JMP are 25% (as they are for everyone, as only interview counts once you get to that stage and they interview about 4 x the amount of places they have, I believe). For WSU it's closer to 33%, and again I believe once you get to interview, everyone is treated the same (it's the UMAT/ATAR bonus that your GWS status counts for, or rural status for those who are rural). I'm not as good as A1 on calculating UNSW odds, sorry.

EDIT: To clarify the above, as I don't think I've explained it well at all...

I think people remain in their respective 'pools' (ie. GWS or rural), but that the odds ratios within those pools (interview to offer) are the same regardless.

Pirsig is right in that you should get a WSU interview. I've just mentioned above that I think everyone is in the same pool once we get to interview, but I actually don't think I've explained that well enough so I'm going to edit. I think all GWS/rural applicants are probably in the same pool, and, ratio-wise, that pool is the same as the overall pool, so your chances of entry are the same regardless of the pool you're in, ie. 33%.

You would also get a JMP interview with a 25% admission offer rate.

UNSW, I'll leave to A1 :D

Quick question would I be able to apply for UWA med/dent undergrad entry if I completed half a semester part-time at a different Australian uni?
thanks

No for UWA provisional Med. I suspect no also for Dent. For Med, you would need to complete your undergraduate degree with a competitive GPA, sit GAMSAT, and apply via the graduate pathway.

The only undergraduate universities you can apply to, once you've started (but not completed) a tertiary degree are those that accept non-standard applicants, with the exception of Curtin which requires a completed degree similar to the graduate pathway for UWA.

Not sure what GPA for your WAM 86 and what GPA+ATAR equivalent it will produce. But assuming it maintains your 99.45, with 89th UMAT you are a little under 50% chance for a UNSW place offer.

For UNSW admission, 93rd UMAT with mid-98 to low-99 is around 30% to 40% chance.

Hi A1,
In that case would, 99.5 with 6.75-6.875 GPA and 93rd UMAT be ~50% for UNSW? Thanks

Just asking once more for a little more detail hopefully, any chance of an interview with 95th 68, 70, 48, GPA 6.1 (hopefully after this semester), ATAR 97.65 at WSU, UNSW and UTAS? Thanks in advance!

You are eligible to apply to WSU with your ATAR so GPA doesn't matter there, should definitely get an interview for an equal 1 in 3 chance like all other interviewees.

I'm not sure whether the UMAT 50/50 rule applies to your case for UTAS. If not you're borderline for an offer based on last year's 96%ile cutoff.

For UNSW 95th UMAT requires around 98.0+ to get an interview. Hopefully your GPA will combine to raise your ATAR equivalent well above this, the higher the better since scraping in with 98.0 will only give 5-10% chance getting an offer. (Last year UNSW indicated 5% chance for a 97.6/96%ile applicant)

UTAS does have the 50/50/50 rule in place for non standards and non rural interstate school leavers. In reality, it's actually a 50/60/50 rule to be competitive though. Your S3 is likely to just rule you out, unfortunately.

A1 thanks! wow ok so if I'm lucky enough to get an interview in the first place, I would need to be in the top 5% of candidates in the interview to get an offer?

LMG! thanks for the info! sad, section 3 is ruining me

Hi there,
just curious what chance of interview at UNSW I have with 6.7 GPA, 98.35 ATAR and 92%ile (182)

Hi welcome to MSO, 6.7+98.35 should give a 99+ equivalent but I'm not sure how much above. Definitely good enough to get an interview and I think we're looking at 30% to 50% chance for admission depending 99.1 or 99.4.
