UNSW UNSW Medicine: General Entry Questions and Discussion

Just received an invite for a UNSW interview for the 21st of December, but I am in SA. Don't know why, but I was under the impression I would receive an interview for January. Just wanted to make sure this was correct?

I had a GPA of 7 and a UCAT score of 3350 but was rejected (NSW local) from UNSW (my atar was above threshold). I've heard that other non standards have been rejected with similar scores, is this an issue on part of UNSW or are the cutoffs just exorbitantly high this year?

Seems like all non-standards got rejected...
3190 and 6.8 GPA rejected
3300 and 6.77 GPA rejected
3400 and 7 GPA rejected
I think the one non standard that I know who got in had a previously solid ATAR

99.3 ATAR, 6.88 GPA and 3350 ucat and also got a rejection letter. Are tertiary students considered for the January intake?

Do you think it would be worth it to call UNSW, I feel as if this may be an issue on their part, as they are also handing out interviews to interstate applicants in the december rounds.

same. We're also in SA. My daughter got interview invitation for 21/12. It's too short notice (3 days). Cheapest return flight (ADL-SYD) is $470 for Jetstar. We're not sure if we go. We expected January.

I believe this must be a mistake on behalf of UNSW, they had several issues that happened last year (i.e students not receiving interviews). It would be best to give them a call.

are you sure you got an invite for 21 Dec ? Should it not be 23 Dec??

Probably their future students contact number. 02 9385 1844
I don't believe UNSW medicine has a direct contact number for enquiries, but u should probably give their main line a call. 02 9385 8765

If you dont mind me asking. What degree are you studying?

I took a gap yr this yr and received a 3080 (91%ile) and a 98.65 (I got EAS which boosts to a .95) so naturally its really unpredictable whether I get an int offer (hopefully I do). I was going to start medsci at unsw next yr if I did fumble coz
a. it lwk seems interesting
b. i talked to alot of the drs at where im working at and the postgrad ones all have done some sort of medsci/sci/biomed ug (its the method)

im hoping this is sorta related to the forum. surely yall can tell im losing my mind ;-;
Hi, just following up since I have the same stats. Did you end up getting an offer?

Sent them an email and they confirmed it was not a mistake. They said if I am not able to make arrangements, I will no longer be considered for a place offer. Damn.
