UPDATED Dentistry Schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards

Hi,
Just having a difficult time finding requirements for Griffith Dentistry (non-standard). Does anyone know what the GPA and UCAT requirements are for an interview? And if they are "hurdles" or weighted in finalising an offer?
Griffith uses the UCAT to select students for an MMI Interview and last year they took into account your preference ranking when giving out invites. I'm not sure if they'll do that again but it seems likely. The UCAT score required depends on the applicant pool but after being selected for an interview they weigh the following for an offer

MMI performance : 40%
Academic Score/GPA : 40%
UCAT : 20%

so universities know our preferences ? They know which subjects I have chosen ?

Yes the unis can obtain your preferences from the TACs. But strictly speaking the unis/schools are NOT supposed to let them influence your eligibility for an interview/offer. The prefs are for the TAC's use only - for when you qualify for multiple *place offers* in a state you only get the highest-pref one, to yield the lower-pref ones to other applicants.

So far Griffith Dent is the only school using prefs to "reject" eligible applicants from getting an interview. IMO it's wrongful.

One way to get around this is to place Griffith Dent in the top 2-3 prefs, then after doing the interview change it to your actual pref order.

Hi.
I'm applying for Dentistry through the non-standard pathway and I just wanted to make sure I've put down all the Dentistry preferences possible.
Is it correct that for QTAC, the only universities/courses I can apply for are:
- Bachelor of Dental Health Science at Griffith University
- Bachelor of Dental Science (honours) at University of Queensland
For SATAC, is it just Bachelor of Dental Surgery at University of Adelaide i can apply for?
For VTAC, is it just Bachelor of Dental Science at Latrobe University I can apply for?
And for UAC, is it just Bachelor of Dental Science at Charles Sturt University I can apply for?
Thank you

The rest looks correct. QTAC i think you've left out JCU Dent.

Thank you! Also, is the Bachelor of Dental surgery course only available for current students studying at the University of Adelaide?

Does anyone know the process for La Trobe dentistry for a non-standard applicant? I couldn't find any clear cut information and when I tried to obtain it from them, they didn't really answer many of my questions. I heard they removed UCAT so does that mean only GPA is considered for a non-standard applicant for their Bachelor of dental health science?

Also, if you start a new degree, do they use your most recent GPA or do they incorporate your previous study as well? The people I talked to over the phone had no idea and didn't manage to give me an answer.

Thanks

just wondering, is it CSU, JCU, UQ, UAdel, Griffth, and Latrobe the only places that accept non-standard students? From the table, it says Unimelb had WAM = 80, so I was just wondering if they accepted non-standard students as well!

UniMelb does NOT accept non-standard students. The WAM requirement is specifically for those in the Double Degree Dentistry program (i.e. those that have been accepted and are in the course).

Hi everyone I have been reading through this thread and even took a look at the table. Could someone let me know which unis offer dentistry as a non standard and only take into account GPA and not my ATAR?

Thank you!

I don't mean to put you in such a position but if you had read through this thread and table, you would know what dentistry schools offer positions to non-standard applicants based on GPA (and not ATAR).

I was asking cause in the table for non CSU students they required an ATAR over 90 to qualify. Or am i just reading that wrong?

Hello,
My friend is currently in 1st year of her undergraduate degree at Monash University and in her 1st semester she got 7/7 GPA (i.e. all High Distinctions) and is currently in her 2nd semester. She sat the UCAT recently and got a score of 3210 (VR-720, DM-710, QR-900, AR-880) (and she got like 643 in SJT) She is interested in Dentistry and would like to know her chances of getting into Dentistry. Would you be able to provide some insight?
I remember seeing that the only unis that accept non-school leavers are UQ, Griffith, CSU, LaTrobe and UAdel. Would you be able to tell me how her chances look? She's not rural/ regional and she doesn't want to do full fee (cos she's not from a high socioeconomic background). Also, she's a Victorian student but is happy to move interstate.
Thanks in advance :)

Also, for VCE she got 98.45. Will this allow her to apply to additional Unis?

Hi, I wasn't sure where to ask this but are there any universities that do not use UCAT to study dentistry? I am a non-standard applicant of SA.

UQ - almost guaranteed an offer if she can maintain her GPA
Griffith -almost guaranteed an interview
CSU - possibly an interview invite
LaTrobe - unclear as she is not rurual
UAdel- interview invite is highly likely

Hello Unluckydude, thanks so much for that. Do you happen to know if UQ has an interview?
