UQ UQ Medicine: Provisional Entry Questions and Discussion

What new selection rules are you referring to here?
I'm referring to the changes to the MD selection rules to be introduced between 2019 to 2022. According to their website, the 2 main changes are the interviews and prereq subjects. As those are the *main* changes, I thought it implied there'd be other smaller changes as well (like having top-up rounds?). I could be completely wrong though, I can't say I know much else about the topic.

The changes are for graduate entry which is different to provisional entry for school leavers.

Oops I didn't realise that. Thanks for clearing that up!

I think the pre-req subjects change applies to provisional Med students though? Or is that already in place?

No, that's new, but the prerequisites definitely are required by provisional entry students.

I am interstate and just got an offer (bonded) but I have Griffith as a lower preference and with an ATAR of 99.80 I'm certain I'd get in.
I have no idea which is better! I'm honestly stuck and I have til 4pm to make changes.
I am not even really sure how the provisional entry thing works - is it the same for both??

Accept your UQ offer first then move Griffith to higher pref, you'll have a lot more time to decide btwn the two.

Yes the two provisionals are similar, GU undergrad is 2 years though (but still 3yrs' worth of study units).

So I got UQ provisional BMP offer and I had a couple questions

1. Which bachelor is best recommended?
2. How difficult is it to maintain a 5.0/7.0 GPA?
3. After completing the undergrad degree with a high enough GPA do I still need to do an interview?

1. Dentistry is one option.
2. Easy for OP2/97+ students
3. Guaranteed No.

1. There are subject pre-requisites you have meet, so choose something that interests you but also covers those.

OMG I just got an offer for Provisional Medicine BMP with a UCAT of 2800 (88th percentile). I was definitely not expecting to get in, but now I am absolutely ecstatic! Does anyone here know what the UCAT cut-off actually was?

It was quite possibly exactly what you got, haha! Yours is the lowest we’ve seen so far.

Hey guys,

Has anyone who has done the course change thing they ask you to do, walk me through the process?
