UTAS UTAS Medicine: Entry Information and Discussion

How many spots do they have? also, would a 99.6 be considered as a mid to high 99 and yes I know, first year they are doing this but can anyone suggest whether this is sufficient??? Thanks in advance :)

There are 100 domestic spots on offer. UTAS aim for 50 of those to be rural and 2 (minimum) to be indigenous. Which leaves ~48 for non-rural/non-indigenous. There have been rumours previously that at least 70 are for Tas locals, but this would include a large portion of the rural applicants so, if it’s true, it’s difficult to say how many of the 48 spots will eventually be filled by interstate applicants.

Tbh, in my year, I’d guess there’s single digits.

To satisfy the english and chemistry prerequisites, do you just need a pass grade in year 12 for that subject or is there a certain score you must achieve?

Afaik you only need a pass grade for all schools except Monash requiring 30 out of 50 for English & Chemistry.

I called UTAS and they said that offers will be given in 2-3 weeks. However on their website it states that the deadline to accept offers for year 12 students is on the 19th.

That acceptance date could be for Tassie local year 12s who already have their offers.

Just to let everyone know, I contacted UTAS via live chat and they said they are 'on track to release the 2nd round of MBBS offers within next week'. Can't wait! The nerves are killing me!
