UTAS UTAS Medicine: Entry Information and Discussion

Hey Guys I'm from QLD and I received an ATAR of 99.45 and a UCAT of 2610. Do you think I will receive an offer for UTAS ?
Non-rural very much highly unlikely (based on data from recent years)

Yeah, I’d agree with 2xq unfortunately. Unless you’re a rural applicant, an offer is not likely. And if you’re a rural applicant and not yet received an offer, then I’d say there’s been an error with your application.

Hey, I'm currently in my 2nd year of uni in NZ and was wondering if it's possible to apply for a spot in MBBS at UTAS. If it is possible, what UCAT score would I need to be competitive - considering I have a 7.0 GPA (for Australian univerisities)?
I don't have much information about the entry requirements, so if anyone could clarify it would be greatly appreciated!

To use your NZ university grades, you'll need to finish your degree there then sit GAMSAT. This entry pathway is new and as such there isn't past data on what GAMSAT you'll require.

Accessing entry requirement info can be accessed here: M3N Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery - Courses & Units - University of Tasmania, Australia

It’s all available on their website, did you start there? You need a completed degree and to sit GAMSAT (not UCAT). https://courses.its.utas.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/233657/MBBS-Graduate-Entry-2023.pdf

Ah I should’ve been more clear in my original question: I understand that there’s the undergraduate and postgraduate pathway but for someone who hasn’t completed their degree yet, would it be possible to apply as an undergraduate? Or is that option only for year 12 students?

Only for y12 school leavers

Hi! I was wondering whether the UTAS applications for school leavers have opened yet for interstate students? If so, can someone please post the link to which I can start my application, as i am having trouble finding it on their website.

Thank you in advance for all the assistance :)

They won’t have opened yet (and won’t for several months). Refer to the UTAS website for the application dates.

hi all. i've read that utas requires a min 50th percentile UCAT but I haven't seen it on the H3X nor M3N website. is this 50th percentile overall or for each section?

I was more on top of this when it was still UMAT, but it's potentially still the same... in which case, 50th%ile overall.

thanks, and just to confirm, people have been getting non-rural interstate offers past the 15th January deadline to accept an offer? like UTAS is still giving offers after this date?

Utas offers generally continue on up until O week.

From UTas website (BMedScMD Entry Requirements for domestic)

Applicants require a valid UCAT ANZ
total score in the 50th percentile or above. This is the minimum UCAT ANZ score (combined scores of the 4 cognitive sections of the test i.e. first 4 sections and excluding the situational judgement test) needed for an application to be considered. UTAS may adjust the UCAT ANZ threshold in order to admit students from disadvantaged
and underrepresented groups to meet intake quotas.

Hi all, does anyone know what percentage of UTAS Bach Med Research graduates get into UTAS medicine? what are the criteria for advancing into medicine ? what exactly does this guaranteed pathway mean? thanks a lot in advance.

I have a feeling this pathway has been scrapped unless you started the BMedRes prior to 2020.

UTAS are moving to BMedRes/MD for the 5 year medical degree as of 2023 entry so the website is a bit of a mess currently, but yeah, I think the guaranteed entry via BMedRes has been cancelled.

Many thanks for the reply. I wonder how are they going to fit a Bachelor degree in Med Research and an MD , all into 5 years.🤔

JMP, JPM, and Monash all already do similar.

The UTAS one will be BMedSci/MD, sorry. But same same as far as units go.
