UTAS UTAS Medicine: Entry Information and Discussion

Good Afternoon,
So I got a 99.75(might change) in UAC. Does this translate to the same Rank in UTAS? Since they use almost the same domain with UAC, I would assume they would use the same conversion procedure. Also, if I got accepted for Special Consideration in UTAS will that definitely bump the Rank to 99.95? Lastly, what is the value of 1 adjustment point in UAC/UTAS?
Thanks in advance!
I don’t think UTas med accept special consideration adjustments to ATAR, only rural background will adjust ATAR for med.

And no, not necessarily re. UAC = UTAS, it depends on what your certification is (ie. VCE, IB, A levels, etc). Most of them would be very similar, but I have seen differences reported here.

US SAT and APs.
They have special consideration form for any hardship faced.

But will now confirm with them about the Special Consideration

Yes. A 99.75 ATAR from any other state or territory is the same elsewhere in Australia.

From my understanding, adjustments are available if you are a rural school leaver applicant via the Rural Application Process (RAP) (up to 5 adjustment factors).
Other circumstances require an additional part to your application:

EDIT: didn't see the other messages prior soz. If the minimum adjustment is 1 (for your category which they deem acceptable) and your ATAR is 99.75, then your selection rank is 99.95.
Although in saying that,

I just called them and they never mentioned anything about rurality nor was it in the email nor in the application. Also, the Rank is not the same in all states. In SATAC, it was 99.95; in QTAC, 99.50; and in UAC, 99.75.
It is odd that an Adjustment Point is 1 at minimum. I got a 99.6 from SAT in UAC and 10/10 in APs. They said that APs with a score of 3 or more will adjust the Rank but they just adjusted it by 0.15, even though it was the perfect score. I contacted them to recheck but they gave me the same answer later.
Email from USYD: (also confirmed in their international conversion sheet)

ATAR is NOT Selection Rank
ATAR carries over. Selection Rank does not.
Selection Rank = ATAR + Adjustments
Clearly stated that a 99.75 ATAR is the same anywhere in Australia. Selection Rank IS NOT NECESSARILY the same around Australia

International conversions are university-specific which is why you may have received 10 billion different answers regarding your question.

I know the difference. None of them include adjustments yet. The 99.6 is a 1510 in SAT which is what I got. I confirmed that the adjustment or addition was only 0.15. UAC calls it adjustment but APs are really part of the process to get the ATAR. They use 2 documents which are the SAT and the AP. For some reason, ONLY UAC treats APs as minor adjustments but still is technically part of the ATAR.
Note: university admission centers still call my grade a Rank (explaining my previous usage) because I did not complete an Australian Year 12 so I do Not actually have an ATAR but just for the sake of simplicity.

Yeah so given that you have an international qualification, this will not be the same across states, let alone some universities. Correspondence from let's say USYD may be different to that of UTAS. International qualifications are treated differently across institutions. The answer to your question is now obvious. YOUR qualification will not be the same (in terms of the conversion to a "rank" or for simplicity ATAR) across states or even tertiary institutions. Inevitably if your UTAS special considerations is accepted, it will add to whatever your "rank" equivalent is from your international qualification. Hopefully that makes sense now. (I'm also presuming you are a domestic applicant with an international qualification)

Yeah mate. I presumed you knew that I had international qualifications so we got mixed up. The thing is that my qualifications are assessed at admission centers not universities because I am a domestic. Because of that, my "Rank" assessment is the same across all institutions in the same state (except WA). But, I am still confused about the 0.15 "adjustment" from UAC because the minimum for an Adjustment Point is 1.
But atleast now I know that my Special Consideration application will be considered.
Sorry for getting you into this mix

So they only accept a few special considerations applications each year for med. Might be 3ppl but you would have to double check this number. I wouldn't say its like a set number 'will add this to your entry score' but I know people who had a GPA below cut-off for one year and another year a GAMSAT below 50 section scores cut-off and special consideration allowed the committee to take circumstances into consideration for offers and they are now studying. Offers from special consideration typically don't come out until early Feb. Anyway my main point is that if you are even below advertised cut-offs, but experienced adverse circumstances it is still worth to put in an application but also look at a back up for the following year (which everyone should be looking at anyway).
Good luck with your application.

Thanks mate. I already submitted it. I hope they accept the form which would, probably, make me eligible for an offer. Is there any chance that the offers come before early Feb?

Very unlikely for special consideration the application remains open until mid Jan. You will get an email saying if you are or are not successful for special consideration from admin at some point all the ones I know about have been in Feb.

Does anybody know when will all the offers of UTAS for Medicine are going to be sent?
I still did not receive a rejection nor an acceptance. The only thing I got was that I was rejected from Special Consideration; however, I am still "getting considered for an offer." My qualification is American with a GPA of 4.07/4 (the "4.07" has an explanation but let's not get into it) which should equal to an ATAR of 99.95 according to UTAS's conversion table.

UTAS won’t send out rejection letters until all places have been filled, which often doesn’t happen until as late as o-week. Are you an international student? Or a domestic student applying with an international degree? I’m less familiar with the international student pathway.

A domestic student with overseas qualifications.
Is there a still a chance of an offer?

In my year someone got added to the cohort mid-O week so it’s definitely still possible but, at this stage, the numbers of people getting offers will be pretty low and likely one or two at a time as people decline offers they’ve previously accepted. Definitely time to be moving ahead with any backup plans and considering a late offer as a bonus rather than a certainty.

I do have a backup major which is Engineering, but I certainly would like to get a place at Medicine.😁
Do all 99.95s get offers or just the ones with high UCAT scores?
