UAC also like to do this type of thing! Just to make an already stressful journey even worse!!I emailed them about this a couple days ago and got the following response:
"Thank you for getting in touch with us. I'd be happy to assist with your enquiry today.
I do apologise our application system does have internal status' that do not correctly refer to your application. Unfortunately it is something set by the external system administrator and can not be changed or removed by the University.
Please disregard these status' as they do not correctly relate to where your application is currently in the assessment process.
Any updates on your application will be directly emailed to you by the admissions team. I can see we have received your application and it is still being assessed. Please wait to receive email updates regarding your application.
I hope I have been able to resolve your enquiries today. However, if you require any further assistance, please feel free to reply to this email or contact us on the details listed below.
Have a lovely day and kind regards,
Amelia

Hope this helps, if you are still unsure just get in contact with them by calling or emailing all the unis are pretty helpful and accommodating![]()
Traditionally yes, but I think for rural INTERSTATE students more than locals? That said I got my (rural local) offer in early Dec (before ATAR was released but I wasn’t relying on ATAR, applying with GPA instead - so probably not an indicative guide).Anyone know if conditional offers exist for Tas Rural students + when they come out?
I think it is best that you talk to UTAS about this - in my opinion, it shouldn't matter too much (but don't take my word for it - it may be better to make sure it's correct and rectified).Any help would be appreciated but I accidentally misspelt a street name for the rural application. Does anyone know whether this will affect the application and if there is anything I can to fix this?. I'm nor necessarily keen on talking with the school as that may alert them but if I have to to fix it that's fine.
Are you concerned talking to UTAS will detrimentally impact your application?Any help would be appreciated but I accidentally misspelt a street name for the rural application. I've emailed them about it but my worry was that mentioning it might cause problems in my application (like them denying it).Are you concerned talking to UTAS will detrimentally impact your application?
Very unlikely. Admissions processes can be ruthless but not that ruthless!I've emailed them about it but my worry was that mentioning it might cause problems in my application (like them denying it).
Does anyone know what ATAR for interstate , no bonuses / no special consideration for UTAS was for 2024?Oh what luxuries Tas students have!!
I had 99.80 & 100%ile UMAT, UTas offered me $20,000/year scholarship, then told me I wasn't good enough for med(albeit I wasn't Tas).
Have you confirmed that international students are eligible for this pathway? That would be the best place to start.Hello everyone! I’m currently an international student in my second year of a Medical Research degree at UTAS. I’m considering applying for medicine, and I understand there are reserved spots available for Medical Research students. Im pretty sure there is about 12 places for us. I’d love to hear about anyone else’s experience with this pathway or any insights into how competitive it might be. Since we’re not required to take the GAMSAT, I’m curious about what other factors might come into play for selection, like would being an international student have higher chance to get in due to the huge amount of money we would be paying and how was the application process. Thanks in advance for any advice!
I’ve emailed the university multiple times, but their responses haven’t been very helpful—they mostly just copy and paste information from the website.

Hi, yes international students are eligible for this pathway !! and thank you for the link !Have you confirmed that international students are eligible for this pathway? That would be the best place to start.
We don’t get many international students here unfortunately. Your best bet might be to contact the TUMSS International Student representative and see if they can reach out to the current cohort and get some feedback for you.

I know it says 2022 in that link but it’s definitely not!![]()
Adding to DrLMG's reply.I’m curious about what other factors might come into play for selection, like would being an international student have higher chance to get in due to the huge amount of money we would be paying
Hi sorry I didn't make myself clear ! With this pathway to medicine, there are 12 spots available as mentioned before so I would be competing against everyone in my cohort only. However, I was not sure if I would be competing against the international students in my cohort, or everyone (including domestic).Adding to DrLMG's reply.
You're asking whether higher chance, but higher relative to whom?
All med schools including UTas have separate intake/quotas for domestic and international applicants, so you don't compete against domestic.
Generally the entrance marks for int'l are indeed lower than domestic, but that's not directly related to int'l paying huge fees. It's because the ratio of int'l applicants to places available is lower.
Okay, so the "12 places for us" was meant for the MedRes cohort.Hi sorry I didn't make myself clear !
