JPM WSU/CSU JPM: Interview Invite Discussion

I can't seem to log in gahhh could I confirm that you used the last 7 digits of the UCAT ID
Yep for anyone else that might be struggling to log in - I was trying for about ten minutes, but what happened was that I was originally just copy and pasting my info in from my notes. And then I tried to just type the numbers in and it magically worked...

yeah it took me about 4-5 tries with the exact same information to get in...

Huh then maybe what made it work for me wasn't changing to typing them in but just pure luck haha. Although I think I tried like 10 or so times before I got in...

I'm confused as to how they're allocating interviews for applicants who receive an invite after the initial booking period. Will they do it a la JMP and allocate dates to applicants instead of letting us choose? Like someday said, that poses a problem for people with uni exams, work, other commitments, interviews, etc.
Since there is contradicting information, I gave them a call yesterday afternoon. They said the shortlisted NSW applicants had been sent invites. But interstate will be within the next two weeks.

Is anyone else experiencing 'Error: You did not enter a valid UCAT ID number' for WSU Interview booking? Just called up the school and they say its because there's too many people logging on at the same time but was wondering if anyone has gotten past this issue?

did you include only the last 7 digits of your ucat id? i kept putting in all 8 and got the error message but once i put in just the last 7 it fixed itself

Literally everyone on here had the same issue, check out the WSU/CSU interview invite discussion thread

Called 20mins ago...this is what I heard: majority of invites went out last Monday (as we know) but they're waiting to see how many people actually take up the interviews so they can see how many top up interviews to give out, everyone should know if they have or have not got an interview by the end of next week.
Just thought I would add to the confusion...
In conclusion, sounds like if we haven't got our invites there's only a very small chance of getting one now, because realistically very close to 100% of invites will be taken up.

I mean we should probably stop calling them, they might be just as sick of us as we are of them

This is definitely very consistent with all previous years (it's the huge jump in cut-offs that is the surprising part). However... lowland7 this doesn't explain your situation, so I'd definitely NOT be waiting until the end of next week to get an answer. Particularly when we've had another user confirm with the uni that an email wasn't sent to them despite the fact that it should have been.

I still don't think a change in formula would lead to a single MSO user not getting an invite that it looks like they should, making it highly likely this is an error on their part or a mix-up somewhere with your GWS eligibility (just confirming, you're a current resident?).

Could it just be that the formula (estimated on MSO) from last year was slightly off? Or would that not make sense

Given the sheer numbers, I don't see how a single person from both last year and this year would be the only person reporting something that doesn't add up. The only other person we had report this issue contacted WSU and it was confirmed it was a mistake on their end and an invite was sent. But yep, it's definitely not a confirmed formula by any means.

Since I was the culprit for this formula let me add a couple of comments
- It was *derived* through trial/error to fit all available data last year, as such may not be accurate down to 1-2 points which is a 0.2% error margin.

- The original formula was 5VR + DM + QR + 1.5AR. Expressed in more exact % terms would be 58.823%VR + 11.765%DM + 11.765%QR + 17.647%AR so I rounded it to 58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR. lowland7's discrepancy could be due to this rounding.

Regarding WSU's big jump in non-rural cutoffs, with the 90%ile score being ~100 marks higher = 25 marks/section it's not a big surprise the formula's cutoff has risen ~25 marks.

I've done the maths with the more specific formula and lowland7 still comes out "on top" over the other GWS applicant in question that landed an interview. Mystery continues...

I ended up sending an email to the admissions team, and they confirmed for me that I am indeed being processed as a GWS applicant - so thankfully nothing went wrong there. This is interesting to me, as I also brought up the fact that other people seem to have been misplaced or not sent the offer email but they simply told me that my application is still being processed.

Nonetheless, I will update you guys if anything new comes to light or a resolution is made - thanks for all of your help :)

On the WSU interview booking portal, it says I need the last 7 digits of my UCAT id, whilst the email says to use the 11 digit UCAT ID. What did you guys do?

i didnt apply but i have friends that got interviews. you do what it literally says. use the last 7 digits as required.

I was booking a med interview spot for WSU this morning and noticed they only had 132 candidate spots for interview. On their site, it says they offer about 120 places in the course, and I'm confused cos does that not mean that being invited to interview pretty much means you have a very high chance of getting an offer? Especially considering many people decline their offers for other med schools too. I was under the assumption that they would be interviewing 2 to 4 times the amount of candidates as there were positions available.

the 132 isn't including the rural applicants who have their interviews before us, as well as all the interstate applicants
