JPM WSU/CSU JPM: Questions and Discussion

WSU has 110ish spots I think, so 5 is maybe a bit odd (would expect 15-20ish interstaters). But then again, they are heavily biased towards GWS applicants (atleast to get interviews, maybe for offers?) so idk

I mean it could be like Flinders, who keep contradicting themselves on where people are on the waiting list - same with what you say about CSU. I definitely find it hard to believe there were only 5 "leftover" spots for int/rural in the total of 110 WSU places. (To tag people just type an @ before their usernameYeah exactly. If this is true then this means that interstate applicants only had the chance for "leftover" spots...doesn't sound very fair to me. Anyways, CSU admissions said no competitive offers have been sent at this stage so to wait for the 11th Feb offer round. Again, a different answer to what they told "Roman" in his post above (I don't know how to tag ppl on here sorry). I guess we'll find out on the 11th

Has anyone received an offer today?
The TACs administer hundreds of uni courses so have a lot of offer rounds. Med schools usually only take part in one Jan round & one Feb round. Most unlikely WSU does another round today just a week after the 4th Feb.
But they can do ad-hoc offers when they receive late declines, by calling applicants directly. This is independent of the TAC offer round dates.
Nope...no emails & nothing on my personal UAC page either...

Hey guys. I've had a look but I can't find the answer I'm looking for. Do we know if JPM take SJ section into consideration for interview offers? I know that JMP don't but I'm not sure about JPM? Thanks

If you’ve been looking into the program, I’d think you’ve already come across the application process? It’s on the website. Dates haven’t been updated yet, but it’s all there step by step. Those that received offers will have followed that exact process (unless they were international, rural, GWS, or indigenous, in which case they’d have followed a slightly different, but still clearly outlined application process).
General Applicants | MD Application
A general applicant is someone who is either an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident OR a New Zealand Citizen.

Hi, new member here, aiming for WSU/CSU 2022 entry. Bit of background: I never had aspirations to do medicine until this year, a major event happened in my life which made me realise that medicine is what I wanted to go into.
Did the IB 4 years ago (38: 96.75 equivalent), however I graduated at the end of last year so unfortunately my ATAR can no longer be used for WSU MD entry (I asked them). GPA is an unfortunate 5.3 according to UAC calculations (had a fun first year). Now the general consensus seems to be that WSU only uses ATAR/GPA as a hurdle (which I meet-I'm GWS so only 5.2 is needed), however whilst digging through previous years' offers data, WSU/CSU GPAs seem to always be 6+, with the odd person who were below 6 but who must've met the ATAR hurdle. So yeah, just questioning to what extent is WSU's GPA requirement actually a 'hurdle'.
I know that I'm eligible for JMP (UoN/UoNE), but WSU/CSU is my goal since I've working full time around the area. Cheers

It's just your regular hurdle. If you have a GPA equivalent that is over that threshold, you'll just need to worry about UCAT then interviews later on.Hi, new member here, aiming for WSU/CSU 2022 entry. 2xq already answered your question. I like to add that similar to your observation, the vast majority of place offers to school leavers have gone to those with ATAR 99+ despite the supposed hurdle 95.5. For example ten 99s, two 98s, one 97 in this stat > Aus Med and Dent Place Offers 2020 - Collated Data
Let's speculate why it is so:
- A: Many Y12 students expecting an ATAR in the 95-97 range don't bother thinking about / sitting UCAT for medicine, thus are less represented at JPM?
- B: There's a good correlation between high ATAR 99+ and high enough UMAT/UCAT to get a JPM interview?
- C: 95-97 students don't join MSO to post up their offers?
- D: All of the above?
Hey guys, I'm a first-year uni student that is studying part-time this semester (only 1 unit) and will be studying full-time next semester. I was wondering if being a part-time student puts me at any sort of disadvantage for WSU, or does it not matter as long as I clear the 1 semester requirement? Any clarification would be great.
JPM GPA requirements change depending on how much study you’ve completed. You’d need a higher GPA than, say, someone with a completed degree. You can check out the exact requirements on their website.
That said, if your ATAR is above the hurdle, your GPA will be irrelevant.
