Imagine you have the UCAT to get these interviews, Monday in Brisbane for UQ, Tuesday up to Rockhampton, Wednesday back to Bundaberg, Thursday down to Sydney for WSU, Friday to New England for JMP. We're 3.5 months away from these interview dates, not sure what it will be like then. I was just poking a little fun at CQU website saying interviews will be held on location in Bundaberg and Rockhampton. IMO they can combine it with UQ (oh hang on, they may deliberately hold on same date as UQ to bar you from going for both haha).
In my year I was given UNSW Friday, Monash Monday, WSU Tuesday, Newcastle Wednesday. Thanks to the weekend break I comfortably made to UNSW + Monash but forfeited the latter two.
It's a real conundrum, we discussed it last year unfortunately there's no good solution.
Putting UNSW 1st pref you risk getting Port Macq over Campbelltown, not to mention getting UNSW bonded over WSU unbonded. Vice versa WSU 1st would risk getting WSU bonded over UNSW unbonded.
As mentioned after getting Port Macq/Wagga Wagga you can try switching WSU to 1st, but this relies on WSU having spare places afterwards. Since WSU doesn't hold a 2nd interview round it's not guaranteed they will have places to make 2nd round offers.

Not guaranteed to work but worth a try. At least between putting UNSW 1st then switch or putting WSU 1st then switch, the latter has better prospects since UNSW does hold a 2nd interview round for interstates so will definitely have places to make 2nd round offers (and we believe the 1st round local interviewees are put into this pool as well since we have heard of a few local applicants getting UNSW 2nd round offers).
EtA: Btw the 2nd round of offers here is the February one (has to be after the 2nd round interviews). UNSW med doesn't participate in the Jan Round 2.

Hi, just wanted to ask a question about preferences for QTAC. So, basically I just wanted to cut down on my preferences. So, if I just remove the CSP places for UQ and JCU and just leave in BMP, will I still have the same chances for an offer or will my chances be reduced?
Why would you do that? Is there a reason why you're specifically after a BMP instead of a CSP? I've only heard of people removing their BMP preference in favour of CSP, not the other way round.

I just wanted to have an extra spot for courses other than medicine and dentistry on my QTAC preferences to be safe, and so I need to remove one of the courses. Although I would rather favour a CSP offer, I thought if I apply for BMP, I would have a slightly higher chance of getting an offer?
Yes you would, but it begs the question of "would you take a BMP offer if you got one". For me personally, I'd rather have a <100% chance of something I actually want than a 100% chance of something I don't mind. Preferencing BMPs only also means that even if you end up being the top applicant and have scores that make you eligible for a CSP, you'll only end up with a BMP because that's all you signed up for.
I'd highly recommend that you (and anyone's who's considering a BMP) read up on what signing the contract actually entails, as it may not seem that important now ("I just need to get into med, I'll worry about everything later") while you're in med school, but it will come into effect after graduation.

USYD send out med offers in December . Usually on the same day as the interviews.
Off the top of my head:
- USyd (very sure)
- UMelb Chancellors (based on MSO posts)
- UTas (iirc)
- WSU rurals (sometimes!)

Thanks for the info guys. With UTAS giving out offers to rural applicants, would you know of the date? or an approximation?
I remember one year it was very early, like late Nov early Dec, to the point ATAR was not yet known and the offers were conditional on them achieving the ATAR threshold.
