Not sure what the situation is now with CIE results. Back when i applied 3 years ago I had to send in CIE results myself. Was such a hassle.... From memory, CIE results don't come out until after main round offers are out in most (if not all) state in Australia. So even if they send the results directly to australian tertiary admission centres, you won't get an offer until 2nd round/late round. You might want to just give the Melb Uni and VTAC a call just to see what's going on.

How did you manage to find the conversion for CIE points to and ENTER score? Just be aware each admission centre has diffferent procedures for processing/converting CIE results. Things might have changed, but i don't think unis in victoria have an agreed system on conversion of CIE results a few years ago, unlike in NSW.

still the same situation as back then. you have to get on the phone and hassle all the admissions centres and unis or else nothing gets done and you get no offers

Alright, I emailed vtac and asked them whether they had received my results, they said they had and the universities has access to them during the selection procedure.
I also asked for my converted ENTER, but they said the two scores are not comparable so they can't give me one. But I'm confused, because they would need a standardised system which would be used to compare the academic credentials of ALL applicants.

So yeah, I'm actually quite gutted at the moment......hope things work out in the next few weeks

I thought CIE/NZQA results aren't out till next week? as a NZ applicant the general rule of thumb is that you aren't selected for a main round spot purely because your results aren't out in time. You are only considered for LATE round or later offers

Ok, say you had commerce as your 4th preference. Does this mean that the university (melbourne) omits this and only looks at your 1st/2nd preferences?

Shall I be looking at applying for irregular offers? (the required ENTER is 98 for these commerce places, which sounds a bit too high to me :( )

You will only receive an offer for the highest preference for which you are eligible and competitive. Say if you are made an offer for your 2nd offer, then you won't get offers from your 3rd, 4th etc preferences.

Send your CIE results to VTAC asap if you have not already done so. 98 isn't as high as you might think. AAA or AAaa will get you 98.

So.. being in late round decreases chance of being accepted? On the UAC website I saw that some courses weren't vacant and some were..

CIE results came out today

there are a decent few who have got into Auckland as far as I'm aware. There will be about 115 year 2 students at med camp (out of 161 .... poor performance guys tut tut) this year. In regards to payment most of it should be all good...just don't bombard the 3rd year class reps with emails regarding payment!

I shall hopefully see some of you there on saturday for the rural olympics. I'll be making sure to sign EVERYONE up to grassroots while i'm on the island during the day

Unless you couldn't make it in time (eg holiday), why would you not come to camp and meet your new classmates. 115/161 = poor performance guys!
LG, so do you know how many people are going to go in total, including 3rd & 4th years?

lol ah yea..i'm afraid i'm one of those people who has to have a confirmation of everything that has to be sent in.it just makes me feel happier...more secure if you will. what exactly is grassroots? and are we going to get any more information about fresher's camp or do we just pretty much turn up on the day? I don't think i'm going to know many people either..i only know like 2 people who got in, and even those people i have met maybe once or twice.

uhh I think there are about 50 3rd years going. There won't be 4th years there aside from grassroots people on saturday since they have started already and have classes on the friday of freshers.

it is a fairly poor performance eh?

anyways rain, it doesn't matter that you don't know anyone. The point of freshers camp is to make new friends (and/or enemies haha).

Grassroots is the rural health club at the university of auckland. We will be doing a spiel at freshers so you will find out more about us then. If you want to, check out our website www.grassroots.org.nz

Hey...as a health sciences student this year was wondering what grades and UMAT scores you guys got to get entry into second year medicine?

There's talk of Auckland University scrapping the UMAT this year. But even if they continue to use the UMAT this year, don't worry too much about it.

Auckland University groups the UMAT scores and allocate grades in a way that alot of people will end up with the same grade. A score as low as 15x is high enough provided you ace the interview (very important) and ace the GPA.

Thanks for your reply..not sure I quite get what you mean by 15 X though ..I'm having a slow day. =)
I'd like to get an idea of the grades required before I start first year if possible, they say you need a B+ for an interview but obviously its going to be higher than that for placement. I have a degree in psychology but a BA seems like a walk in the park compared to this =)

Any information you could pass on regarding grade averages would be so appreciated.
