is the time of your interview determined by rank as well?
will all the core gpa 9s be in the morning on monday etc?

OMG!! monday afternoon for me...!!
wat are my chances with a core of 8.25??? slim isnt it... unsless i'm fabulous in my interview i gess?

Congratulations on your offers people . Looks like I might be seeing a few of you around .

Good luck !

regarding the ranking and timetable - based on data collection from last years cohort, there appears to be some unconfirmed ranking in the timetable. There also appeared to be separate days for post grad, MAPAS, ROMPE, and general entry groups. Exactly how they do it, Im not sure.

@kallu - dont worry too much , 8.25 is a very decent gpa, there are plenty of people who made it in with much less than that - however, be fabulous in the interview regardless :)

( and yeah , we've been on holiday since early Nov )

Hey, congratulations to everyone who's got an offer =) does anyone know of any ROMPE kids getting offers yet/are any of you ROMPE kids?

I know it's hard to answer but how well would i have to do in the interview to get in? (my core is 8.75)
say like.. average interview? better than average? etc
what is the average mark for an interview anyway
i'm trying to prepare for the interview but i sort of don't know where to start haha i've been reading the nz herald, times, scientific american for the past year but i read as a hobby so i dont really memorize them or anything

would they ask us questions like why choose auckland over otago?
or can they be really mean and provide counter arguments to what you just said and then see if you change your mind? (i mean, how much do they expect us first years to know about the nz health system and how it works, its flaws and how much everything costs etc)

i helped out last year and i remember that there are definitely separate days or specific time slots (e.g. morning for a certain day) for post grad, MAPAS and ROMPE. there's going to be about 5 interviews happening simultaneously during one time slot. not sure about the ranking relations with interview, think that could be variable to some degree.

@Jennyette, do the best you can for the interview, since i assume that most of us who got in never actually called/emailed to ask for our interview grades (me + all of my friends) so we don't know what's the "average" interview grade for getting in. the interview itself is more about being able to have a conversation normally and demonstrate that you are not someone who just studies all day to get high grades with no general knowledge or life outside of study (which your MH03 form should demonstrate - and also be prepared to elaborate on the activities you've put down e.g. how it influenced you not just "i'm doing volunteering so it looks good on the cv" kind of thing). you are expected to have your own opinions on certain matters and be prepared to back them up as the interviewers themselves may challenge your opinion. it is definitely good to read the health section in the nz herald to know some current issues. good luck!

Any grads got interview offers yet?

Nope I don't reckon they're out yet. Like bobq I've got an over 8 GPA, so unless the cut off for grad interviews took a humongous leap this year I would have thought we would of got an offer. Can I ask what your GPA looks like now it's all over?

its pretty hard to say since people who got in wern't allowed to ask for feedback on their interview (they just said "you did good enough"). With that, i think your best estimate is
the way that auckland uni calculates it (0.6*GPA + 0.15*UMAT + 0.25*interview score)

Just adding to this part : Interview results are not released to successful candidates :(

has anyone gotten a reply from the person you're supposed to confirm your interview time with?
i emailed him/her yesterday but i still haven't gotten a reply

can anyone verify the email address? is it [email protected]??

Hmmm, I was told to RSVP to a different address

And I haven't got a reply too.

Maybe the RSVP contact person is different for each day?

Cool, thanks Nealie..good to know :) My GPA is a bit tricky, depending on how they decide to look at it either 6.8 or 8.5 - real touch and go. So kinda freaking out. Good luck to you though, with over GPA 8 you'll be in with a grin!! :)

What the heck?? That sounds complicated. Is that because you took a break in your studies or did some postgrad stuff or something? For your sake I hope it works out to be the latter and not the former!!

I honestly don't know what will be required in terms of GPA for grad entry. In past years you see such a huge variation in the GPA's of successful grads. I just spoke with a girl who missed out last year with 8.25????? She did have a crummy UMAT score but still........If I had to guess I would say my 8 GPA would put me at the tail end of the successful grad cohort (not counting auto entries). So I think it's possible, but no means a given. I just want it all to be over and be able to get on planning life one way or another - as I'm sure others feel as well........still nothing this morning.

do you mind me asking what the crummy umat score was?

I'm sitting on an 8.4 gpa and an overall umat score of 53 (which translates to the 63rd quantile)

Not sure what her actual score was, but her percentile was 53.

Plus, there is a HUGE difference between 8.4 and 8.25 - truly. That is an awesome achievement, well done. You should have no trouble.

Just to confuse things, I asked as many successful grads as I could last year about their GPA's. They ranged from 8.5 - 7.2 Most sat around 8 though. So you really should be a 'shoe in'. I'm at 8.1 and since there's only 30 places it seems feasible to me that between your score (well even 8.5) and mine (taking auto entries into account) there could easily be 30 people???? It's not that many. That's why I think if I get in it'll be by the skin of my teeth. Got your honours results back yet?
