BTW - sorry to all the OLY1's for the grad entry talk on the undergrad thread, but there really is no other thread discussing Auckland entry like this one. Happy to start a new thread though if it's bothering anyone.

has anyone gotten a reply from the person you're supposed to confirm your interview time with?
i emailed him/her yesterday but i still haven't gotten a reply

can anyone verify the email address? is it [email protected]??

I was wondering the exact same thing. I was given the same email address to RSVP to and I've received no reply yet. I was wondering whether or not I should send another email asking for confirmation, just in case they haven't received my RSVP and my interview is forfeited!

Maybe give the medical admissions office a call just in case the email address was written down wrong? :) Congrats and good luck!

Oops! soz guys for the grad questions...this is such a great thread about Auck entry I totally forgot this was an undergrad thread! Please do yell out if people feel strongly about us tagging a few questions along :)

I just called the admissions office and they said that the health sciences faculty is closed for the rest of the day :S
but they said just check that you sent it to the right email address and that it should be fine

Okay, I definitely sent it to the right email address. Here's hoping it's all sorted.

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about it. RSVP to the email address provided and if your still worried after that, just take a copy of your interview invitation and your acceptance reply with you to the interview. They're going to be recieving 300+ odd RSVP's, so I don't think they're going to bother too much about responding to them.

no news from the grads today? or anyone else get an interview invite? i'm having a self-imposed ban on checking my inbox tomorrow until i go to bed.....

Nah no news (for me anyways)...no rejection letter yet either so that's something :)

Anyone got interviews for next Wed/Thurs/Fri or Mon 13th yet? The ones that have got them seem to all be on the Mon and Tues?

just wondering... how would one go about answering a question 'tell me a little bit about yourself'
are they essentially asking why do you want to be a doctor?

how does one approach really open ended questions like those?

They are essentially asking you why you want to be a doctor. I would approach this by describing some themes about myself and then linking those themes to medicine and my motivation for wanting to do it. For example, I am a compassionate person. . .and medicine provides the opportunity to show compassion to patients so I would find it satisfying.

For what it's worth, I prepared a good answer for that only to not be asked it.

The first thing they said after introducing themselves was "Well, we like to keep this simple and straightforward, so how about we start by telling us why you want to be a doctor"...

IDK bout you guys but I actually dont think that they're the same question. "why you want to be a doctor" is probably the only question that is asked in every single med interview in every university in the world; I dont think they'd just rephrase it to something as open as "tell us about yourself", just my 2 cents though

For what it's worth (seems to be the new phrase of the year), I was asked neither of these questions (at least not in the interview).
But I do agree with G.walker , i see these as 2 different questions.

FWIW - Definitely agree on this one. They'll ask you that if they have the time & it's asked in most other interviews also. They're trying to get a handle on 1. how well you can communicate off the cuff & 2. really just about who you are. So put together a list of the most salient things about yourself- maybe 4 or 5 things. Your family, where you grew up, schooling, any big experiences + what you're like - intovert/extrovert etc. Be able to link these things later to other stuff - like perhaps motivation etc but I don't think there's any need to expand on that with that question. Just keep it light, happy, upbeat.

Wow. they sure are keeping the suspense up this year,
From what i remember, last year , post grads came first, the schedule was something like... :

Monday - Post Grad
Tues - OLY1,
Wed - MAPAS (+ROMPE ?)
Thu - OLY1
Fri - OLY1
and.. cant recall the rest.

postgrad offers? anyone??? Gosh are postgrad interviews generally after the OLY ones???

nope. it's so frustrating.... no one on these boards has even said they have an interview past tuesday! last year post grads were first - but doesn't look like it this year....who knows, we may even be the following wednesday - 13th?????

Yeah now that I think about it, in previous years it was before undergrads! Why the wait... =S I think one of my freinds has her undergrad on wednesday but not too sure... but yeah looks like we'll have it the following week!!! I'm guessing no offers in the weekends???

I found out with 6 days to go but it was via email.

Weird apparently there was a mix up in everyones address, i dont even have an address on my invitation slip.

Well 2 days to go
