So.. Still no news on grad interviews yet for you Nealie? I just wish they would tell me if my GPA was to low. Then i can know to stop hoping for an interview.

Nah - still nothing....I'm totally feeling you though....I'm quite over the waiting....I'll be super shocked if I don't even get to interview - but I guess it's possible??? It's just hard to work out, if I'm a 'shoe in' for an interview why haven't I got an offer? I can understand if my GPA was lurking around the cut off & now I'm starting to wonder if it might be????

@Nealie - far out dude, if you don't get an interview the threshold must be impossibly high this year! No word yet for me bout how they will calculate GPA...am guessing I'll know one way or the other when I get a rejection letter/interview offer :) I think we all deserve some celebratory/commiseratory vinos after all this.

Have any undergrads that were expecting offers not received them yet? In particular im wondering about ROMPE applicants? Also, is there someone we can ring who is somewhat involved in the process? Because I rang the admissions number on the FMHS website, but you get put through to general people who don't really know what's going on. (yes, I'm playing the role of an overly concerned pre-medder rather well I know!)

I don't think you'll get much stick from us about that....it's hard to be anything else at this point...

I have emailed both Michelle Chung and Tanya Savage who are involved in the admissions process but neither have replied. I called Michelle but she's not answering her phone. I may try and call Tanya before the end of the day.... other than that, I know nothing....sorry.

Hi all,
I'm a grad too who still hasn't heard anything, GPA 7.85 and UMAT of 85th percentile, sort of thought I would get an interview with this but obviously knew I wouldn't be at the top of the applicants applying. I was also told when I called Michelle earlier in the year that the cut off for interview last year was 7 GPA, bit gutting as you kind of think that if you are above that you'll at least get an interview.......hmmmmmm anyway thank you to all for the updates is good to know that I am not the only one!

Dont worry just yet - I honestly think they just haven't gone out yet.... I find it impossible to believe that the cut off could increase by that much!!! I don't know what the hold up is - perhaps waiting for other uni's to release final grades or something, but I think up in the high 7's/low 8's we will get interviews....just my opinion of course - no point in giving up just yet!!!!

I had my interview today...

It's pretty hard to tell how it went, but the interviewers were really nice. They didn't ask me anything from my MH03! I think I did okay, I don't remember making any blunders, and I've got a good GPA and UMAT so I'm feeling pretty hopeful. But who knows, it's so hard to tell what they really think of you...

Good luck to everyone who's still to have their interviews!

Oh, good for you! You must be glad it's over! If they didn't bring up your MHO3 did they ask you all the standard questions to steer the interview?

I had my interview today too :)

I don't really know what to think either. I think it went alright but I'm not too sure. They didn't ask me any questions from my MH03 either or many personal questions, mainly ethical questions and questions on why I want to do medicine.

It's hard not to keep going over it in my head but the best thing to do now is relax and wait for the results :) It's out of my control now.

Im a grad, just finished Biomed at auck. My GPA is 8.25, I got an offer last friday (3rd Dec) and my interview is on Thursday (9th Dec). But from previous experience, the offers are sent as an on-going process so im sure there are more offers to come :)

Good luck to all

i was talking to med students in the waiting room and apparently ROMPE interviews are on friday but the offers are going out really late, so best to prepare if you have a decent GPA

Good luck to those who are still waiting on interviews, and congrats to those that had them today. I wonder how many of you I managed to see xP.

As for the GPA cut-offs, an reasonably official source has informed me that the cut-off for 2010 entry was indeed 7.0, with this year being slightly above 7.
( If i also recall correctly, 7 was also the cut-off for other entry pathways but has also risen slightly this year )

It also appears that the interview offers are showing up with errors (e.g. address issue - important peeps have been notified. ) , as a result, Id suggest you make sure all relevant email addresses are checked.

um... Offers are also being sent out slowly it seems, I'll see if i can check with Michelle Chung tomorrow if all have been sent out.

also... the general outline of the interview schedule is: (outline only)

Mon / Tues - OLY1
Wed - MAPAS
Thurs - Post Grad
Friday - Post Grad / ROMPE

Not sure whats going on with Monday 13th though.

Either way , good luck ! Hope to see you around !

Hey Nautica - thnx heaps for the info. It makes sense & although it should put my mind to rest about not receiving an offer it also makes me wonder whether there has been a problem/mistake with my specific application. If postgrads are thu/fri and today is tuesday & I've got no notification - something doesn't seem right. To add to this Michelle & Tanya seems busy with interview admin/organisation - so the applications team don't even seem to be at their desk trying to push out any more offers quickly.....

I'm going to call tomorrow until I get someone & try and work this all out.....thnx again tho.

OK Grads - I have news!!!!!! Spoke with the admissions office....

Grad offers have been so slow to come out this year due to some problems getting transcripts from other universities. I don't know whether that's because they are running interviews a little earlier this year or because of something unforeseen. But basically they have drip fed grad offers to the highest GPA grads (9-8.2ish) & are waiting till the latest possible moment to send the rest in the hope that other applicants transcipts will come through.

So, most of the remaining grad offers will come out tonight for Friday and Monday interviews. I have an interview on Friday (was told this verbally) - time TBC.

If you're GPA is 7.5 or below you may be waiting longer for an offer of interview on Monday. I think it's impossible for them to say exactly what the GPA cut off is when they don't even have all the GPA's in front of them & if they are reluctant to send offers to people in the high 7's for fear of new GPA information 'reshuffling the stack' then it makes me wonder whether the unofficial cut off really is a bit higher than 7.0???

Anyhow, tonight for most of us & later in the week for others - interviews on Friday & Monday.

Thanks so much for the update Nealie and MASSIVE CONGRATS!!!!! :)

Hmm nealie thats weird!!! My friend with a gpa of 7.8 got an interview for thursday but you had to wait??? Now I'm REALLY worried about why Interview offers are so late. I was always going to really borderline when it came to getting an interview offer, but this "wait and see" approach by fmhs suggests that the GPAs coming through are really high!

I agree - I didn't have the heart to ask her about discrepancies such as this!! And i also agree about the GPA's coming in being high - it's the only thing that makes sense. I wondered whether we're seeing more Aussie grads apply to Auckland? That would def hold up proceedings wouldn't it? She said many uni's refused to release transcripts to UoA???? Surely they wouldn't be NZ uni's?? Anyway a strange process....

Is your friend also in Welly?

Do you think they offer interviews to high GPA's from other uni's & keep all the Aucklanders to one side, knowing they have less travel etc to organise??? Ahhh I don't know....pure conjecture...
