OK, I think I'll start a new thread...it's all most of you will be thinking about anyway, we may as well talk about it. Being prepared is good.... & it doesn't have to mean "rehearsed or unnatural".....

Cool. Thnx very much. I guess if people find it useful you could consider stickying it for next years group? Whatever you guys decide :-)

hey i was just wondering in the case you do not get a place, do they also send you a letter? do you also get informed about it on the same day the ones that get in get to know? I had my interview yesterday and i dont think it went well... so do you get informed if you dont get in or does not recieving an e-mail mean that you did not get in?

I think on SSO this is what I heard from previous years OLY1s ... if you don't get accepted it says "cancelled" apparently. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. 22nd December 2011 intake and the people who get in from the waiting list will make up the 2012 MBCHB ll cohort. Is it true that they're really increasing the number of seats at medical school?

By the way if you guys are curious the lowest non-core GPA I've heard who got an interview is 7.125 while for core GPA 7.25. I was a bit surprised but if this is true as the person claimed, then the raise in grade boundaries surely must have had an effect on the GPA cut off for 2012 MBCHB ll intake.

Hahaha quiet bunch because probably on average with our cohort they spend more time studying rather than chatting about grades and procrastinating.... though this is a huge generalisation. LOL*

hi tupac4life, i was just wondering how you got the information about the lowest core gpa at the interviews, is it a reliable source?

Well mj221 actually it was my friend's cousin who actually got that particular GPA. I cannot disclose the identity of that person due to privacy reasons especially in a public forum as this one. However, I do know this is reliable unless my friend or his cousin was a big liar which I know they both aren't. I know of another friend who got 7 for their core gpa and 7 for their non-core gpa yet didn't get offered an interview. Again you do not have to believe me but from what I know and have heard from this particular person this is what they got and they didn't get an interview offer. I will not take responsibility for these claims but I'm merely stating facts that I have heard from some close friends of mine.

I personally think tupac4life is mistaken. I have seen the official role and I know for a fact that the lowest gpa was 7.5.

Hi dylangordhan,
One of the MSO rules is to not make personal attacks on other members. If you believe another member is mistaken, please try to explain this in a way which will not cause offence. This time I have simply edited the personal-attacks out of your post, but in future such posts will result in disciplinary action.
Thanks, Frootloop :)

Oh really is this 7.5 core gpa? I don't have any intention of misleading any individuals. This is what I heard from my friend's cousin and I just decided to share it with the members. I stated earlier that I do not take responsibility for the validity of the claims. How did you get access to the official roll though? Isn't that not allowed? That's what the supervisors at my med interview told me anyway.*

Thanks Frootloop for the edit!

I know the course admin personally and she told me that was the lowest gpa, what was your gpa out of interest? I got an 8.25 I wonder if that is enough

Is it possible this person is applying through the rural or Maori/Pacific Island entry scheme? Because that could potentially be causing the apparent differences between what you and dylan are saying?
[offtopic]No problem :) [/offtopic]

I also know a guy who got an interview via general admission with a 7.25 core so this points toward the lower grade boundary.

I really doubt you had legal access to the 'role' of interview recipients, Dylan.

*Quietly reminds everyone to play nice* (Not telling you off, just before anything happens ;) )
And actually, there have been quite a few people on here in the past claiming to have seen such lists, it doesn't sound like Auckland uni is overly good at stopping students who work there over the summer from gaining access to them (although this is speculation only).
[offtopic]And it'd be 'roll', jus' saying :p [/offtopic]

No this particular person was an undergraduate applying via the BSc OLY 1 scheme and is ineligible for MAPAS or RRAS.*

Yeah my friend's cousin also had a core GPA of 7.25 as well and also got an interview via general admission. Non-core was slightly lower yet still made it.

what was your gpa out of interest? do you think 8.25 is good enough for admission?
