Chances are you know me. I think we have met.

hint: I'm the "recorder guy"

Yea I don't wanna do bad in the first test either... would feel really bad about it...

The test turned out to be better than i thought. Actually i think it was the easiest out of all the practice test papers that i did. The MCQs were all about basic facts (thank goodness my memory was active that time), and the short ans questions were pretty straightforward too, there was a 10 mark question on embryology that ask us to simply draw a labelled cross-section. Hopefully i will get an A+ for it. What i am worried about though, is that maybe i'm not the only one who thinks the test was easy, apparently everyone i asked said it was easy, and therefore probably most people in our year will get an A+. How did the previous years do on that test? If you can still remember the average mark or anyone's you know or something. I'm wondering if 85% is not quite enough.

Anyways!!!! How's the break going?? Hope you're all having some nice relaxing timesss! before the real storm hits!

[offtopic] sorry i was testing how it works again. Apparently Auckland has one more week of holiday than Otago in both the mid-semester break and the the inter-semester break. Just want to cordially express my happiness (and meaniness) here lol [/offtopic]

[offtopic]Its probably because compared to Auckland, HSFY and 2nd year at Otago is pretty much a holiday anyway.[/offtopic]

[offtopic]I would've thought there would be at least some debate about this...but agreement is good too...[/offtopic]

[OFFTOPIC]Wanting a holiday is the reason why Skyglow came to Otago, not Auckland. And also to siphon money off the desperate health scis week by week [/OFFTOPIC]

I'm looking through my poplhlth module 2 notes. The concepts/contents are really broad and i'm just wondering what kind of questions they will ask in the test. Will i be OK if i just cover the learning objectives?

You can have a look at the past exam papers to give you an idea, though they dont have any multichoice questions there. I only have a vague memory, but from what I remember the lecture notes, plus whatever they said in the lecture was sufficient to do the questions in the test, though you I think for module 2 or maybe it was 3, the answer to one of the questions was from a required reading. I would still prioritise required readings lower than any lecture material though.

Thanks toaster. The things is that I was so busy stressing out for BIO107 test the last week of uni that i didn't pay much attention to what the lecturer was saying (plus he wasn't as interesting as Pr RJ). Anyways i realised that was a mistake:cry:
How did you do for the embyo model for the lab? I got 8/10:cry: mmm...don't know what i messed up this time.
Just to conclude my miserable speech... CHEM test is on the first day back and right now i'm suffering from a really bad flu that makes me sleep 14Hrs a day...sigh

Leafie - no. You can get 'flu-like symptoms', which is essentially a side-effect of the seroconversion process (the way the body turns a vaccine into antibodies), but the flu vaccine is an inactivated component of the influenza virus and has no capability of producing disease itself.

I say this in an academic sense, not in a sense that I am giving you medical advice. If you have any queries about symptoms yourself, then you should see your GP.

By flu-like symptoms do you mean fever, sore muscles, sore throat, headache and dry mouth? If that's so, i don't think it's any difference from the actual flu itself. Gee only managed to go thru 3 lecture notes today, i think i'd be better off killing myself. Anybody interested in saving my life?

Don't kill yourself yet, theres life after the flu/flu-like symptoms, at least its happening to you in the holidays. I survived it last year, thanks to having wednesdays off I didn't miss out on too much.

And I'll give you some good news...I only got 6.5 for my embryo, it was like a complete failure. I spent too long getting the head right, that I ran out of time on the other things. So if 6.5 on embryo lab got me into med, then with 8/10 you'll definitly get in.

Don't worry too much about chem test, it was like the easiest test I did last year, and its not worth very much either I think?

Module 2 in poplhlth can be a bit boring, and module 3 doesnt really get too much better though the lecturer is a slight improvement. Though I would suggest you listen and take notes for those lectures, seeing as they are not very well covered by the text books.

Thanks toaster, you made my day.
The headache's gotten better and i went to the chem tutorial today. Some people there asked really basic questions. I thought it'd be some kind of lecture-like tutorials where they would give us some hints etc on the test but since i didn't have anything particular to ask so here i am back in my room.
Guess I shall get some study done while my brain is still awake.
Enjoy the last few days of your break:)
