What's a "leafie" gonna do  There's so many lurkers in the Otago thread it's crazy. There's always at least 1 guest reading that thread when I check it.

man i went to otago once! in dunedin i saw the steepest street in the world hahah awesome!

Lol i also told most of the stuffs i learned here to other people as well. Still can't bring myself to tell anybody about this site yet, mainly because the competition is freaking intense, also since i'm the only one from auckland who actually asks questions here it will be easy to identify me (I don't want people to know who's Liefie yet, not before i got into med :lols:... if i can get in:(

You're probably a hero amongst biomed students without knowing it, for asking the questions everyone else wants to ask, but just can't bring themselves to asking.

What's a "leafie" gonna do

More than light pollution...

Gee thanks toaster. Hoho i'm da hero:cool:.
If there are really lurkers, come on show your existence! Don't just sit back in your chairs and laugh at how stupid i am. I feel embarrassed asking questions now:unsure:

Lol i was just kidding. I don't mind asking questions at all. In fact i'm totally gratiful i can get lots of extra help here (esp from you toaster! you ARE the true hero)
What i meant though was it would be better if the first year biomeders who are reading this tread (if there is any) also at least show themselves, and maybe participate in the discussions. But that said, i understand their reluctance of sharing concerns.

More people will begin to show up closer to interview time, thats what happened last year, everyone gets really paranoid about the interview. And then a whole lot of them disappear when the results come out, and are never heard from again, but thats understandable.

It's hard for the people who didn't get in to face the people who got in. I don't know how to face you guys again if i don't end up in med...(maybe lets say "Leafie suffered a terrible nervous break down and is in XXX mental hospital right now" lol)

I wish I could have a terrible nervous break down right now...would be easier than learning anatomy...

i felt exactly the same in 2nd year. Just tough it out. When you do orthopedics in 4th year you realise how much you've forgetten but it all comes back to you rather quickly

lol Leafie dont worry
i didnt make it to AU med with gpa of 8.25 and umat of 99th perc
but i made it to both newcastle n utas
and im still well and alive and doing MED in utas

and i know heapsa other people who didnt make it in AU
but doing med somewhere else in australia!

so dont worry too much eh :D

Hey Leafie I just joined MSO and I'm doing the same thing as you (biomed) in auckland! so yeah I was just reading past posts and saw your lament lol at the lack of other biomed students so decided to say hi! :)

Slowly but surely we can build up the Auckland community on MSO...and maybe, just maybe, equal or outnumber Otago people. I wonder why its turned out this way? That theres hardly any auckland people, but heaps of otago ones. Auckland's medical entrance pathway is way more complicated and mysterious, there should be more questions and uncertainty...

That's the thing I noticed about MSO actually, I wonder why that is too? I was expecting a lot more Auckland students because entrance is made up of three parts which includes the slightly intimidating interviews at Auckland ^_^ whereas at Otago it's just UMAT and scores.
So who are the Auckland fellows that make up the MSO community? :)

many people just don't know about MSO I guess. I never got round to advertising it to first years a while back when I got in. I guess it's down to you guys! I'm not even at city campus these days

Ok um......... I think i failed the 203 test......... So unsure about heaps of phil blyth multi choice. Most of it isnt from the blue boxes, you gotta think from all sorts of angles and read each option carefully....

Lordgarlic, any advice for how i should be studying for phil's stuff?

Theres no way you would fail Gigaoblivion. There were some pretty tough questions, that I was like real unsure of, but enough easier questions thanks to Merv Merilees, and also the SAQs that would probably get you through in the end. It completely freaked me out that the hardest questions seemed to be at the start, so I thought it would be like that the whole way through, and almost thought it would be certain fail.

To understand Phil Blythes questions...we must think and be like Phil Blythe. So its probably time to sign up for second life, and learn up on some lame jokes.
