Hey, do any of you guys know anything about Aegrotat or compassionate passes and what sort of marks they leave you with (hes currently sitting on an A for medsci)? My friend got seriously ill the last few days (xraying his head within next few days) and i wanna help him sort this out. cheers
Mm, i get where you're coming from, but i guess its just because you dont know the guy. He wouldnt be doing this to get a free ride. He's quite sure he'll just get a C grade aegrotat pass, which i've been convincing him is definitely not what he should accept. He worked hard up to the day so I reckon he deserves to get the grade he would have got if he sat it. Some things are unfair but just imagine if you were in his position, vomiting, blurry vision, migraines on the morning of the test. You'd want the same eh, even if others think its unfair.

Westlaker? Are there westlakers here?Whoa intense? Is it a westlaker?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. Firstly I don't know if he's doing Biomed or Health Science because if he's doing Biomed which means he would have to take Biosci106 yesterday. If he went to the Biosci106 exam yesterday and becomes so sick today that he can't take the Medsci exam, then this is probably due to stress or over-work/lack of sleep. And from the symptoms you described they can be easily coming from stress, eating disorder or irregular sleeping patterns, in other words, bad time management and bad stress management. Believe it or not, i've seen people so stressed about exams that they don't sleep whole night before exam and was vomiting the next morning. And since an important quality of a doctor is to manage stress, so if he can't even cope with an exam, then i honestly doubt Med is the thing for him. Also, if he can get a grade of A or even a B+ (which i seriously doubt the uni would give without any real clinical comfirmation), then that means he can spend sooooo much more time on other subjects, especially if he is also taking Chem110 this semester. This is a risk that i personally wouldn't take but that doesn;t mean nobody is doing it. 3A+ and a B+ can comfortably get him to the interview and probably Med. Of course there is also a possibility that he was sick all these days and missed out both or all his exams due to unexpected physiological conditions (eg a brain tumour or an accident), then it's a different matter. Nevertheless you are right and i don't know him. So maybe the Medsci staff (Collin?) finds him such a lovely person and decide to give him an A![]()
You could also say that being empathetic is an important quality of a doctor, in which I case I doubt Med is the thing for you.
See how ridiculous it is to pass judgement like that?
And not sure why you'd even comment on things like stress when you aren't certain of what the cause is at all.
