MMI's have been dubbed the OSCEs of interviews. So yes, very structured (though not objective or clinical!)

well, mine was absolutely horrible. they weren't encouraging at all and somehow I don't think it helps if you screw up your answers and forget what you're saying half-way through. goodbye medicine. it was nice dreaming about you. hello two more years of biomed. good luck to everyone who hasn't had their interviews and all those who have. I'm going back to my little corner now and will resume rocking back and forth reliving the horror.

Don't lose hope Rain!

How much do the interviews count for?

hm were you on this afternoon? if you were there this afternoon I would have seen you heh.

lol why not?

lol no I wasn't on that day at all. i did have a very nice med student take me to the room though...hmmm, just out of curiousity, does anyone know what the marking sheets look like? now would be the perfect time to have a unending list of things to do so that i wouldn't have the time nor energy to think about that half hour, but such is life.

I don't think that it will make a difference at this point. But if it was the same as last year, there are 5 categories and the interviewers will give you are grade out of 5 for each category and give you an overall mark

Yay back in Aus woot!,

Anyway, re; marking,

I didn't see any marking sheet as such, however, the women kept scribbling like made whenever i opened my mouth which was a little off-putting. I would find myself peering out of the corner of my eye at what she was writing then realise halfway through what i was doing so i would quickly glance back to the surgeon who was talking to me. Overall i think she wrote like 2 A4 pages, strange woman :p

Fingers crossed for everyone

Really? I didn't notice whether mine flipped pages..I just wondered if they had like 1 page for each applicant or not..and if the sheet was split up into bits like say for instance category 1 was split up into the 5 possible grades and they wrote their thoughts/evidence in the box under the category which specified grades e.g. this person is a poor communicator so they write their thoughts/evidence in the lowest rated box (assuming 5 is best and 1 is lowest)? Does what I've written even make sense? It makes sense in my mind at any rate

nah my lady kept scribbling as well ! ....actualy both of them wrote a lot .... prety much everytime i spoke !! .. :S:S ! lol .......tws a bit weird coz i kept glancing at thme as wel ! lol.......i wonder wt they wer noting down tho ae .......... maybe they discuss our answers wen we leave the room and decide on a grade ??

huh well see that's where i'm confused because whenever i sneaked a look at mine, the scribbling was only happening on one corner of the paper..and I like to think my sneaked looks were well-spread out during the interview. mine didn't write much either. all of which i take to be bad signs. oy if only thursday would come around and be over and done with.

Thanks Hayden and furl for the encouragement. But, i've faced up to it and am enrolling in year two of my science degree. it's just better this way because i'm more prepared.

Rain, it's not over till it is truly over. Even on friday you could be waitlisted! Be patient, things can always turn out better than expected

so the wierdest thing happened to me in my interview yesterday... it was at a point when they asked me what made me a good candidate for med school or something.. then one of the interviewers picked up his cell phone and started fiddling with it.... do you think this may have been a test??
