are the actual med offers released on dec 20th?? I was thinking they weren't released until early Feb which had me worried thinking that by then I would already be at Flinders. Thankyou for your help.

Oh another thing? Is the interview a panel interview asking general questions much the same as for the grad entry interviews? I don't know if you will know this but thought it was worth asking :)

yep the offers are released DECEMBER 20th on ndeva as far as i'm aware (21st dec last year). It's the faculty's thing to make sure you don't wait for ages. No point to make you wait when they have your GPA/UMAT scores already.

panel of 2 interviewers at Auckland. The questions they ask are usually based around your MH03 form you submitted. They like to pick bits out of that and ask you on it. Everyone gets asked different things depending on how the interview flows

That is awesome!! After waiting months to find out about Flinders the idea of finding out straight after interviews seems mad! Let's just hope I even get an interview as my UMAT was VERY poor! Do they expect you to know anything about Health Boards etc or is it more assessing your personality?
Thank so much for your replies :)

It's really hard to tell. Most of the time they want to know about you. The interview is seen by a lot of us as an extension of the MH03 application form. I really have no clue what they ask candidates since it's not structured

has anyone gotten anything from the university regarding interviews??! .... a few people have started receiving rejection letters :S

hey i got an interview offer for auckland...elated but now i'm really freaking out..any advice with regards to interview or how to stay calm haha

congrats all of you! best of luck for your interviews. I'm still waiting for the timetable to see what days I'll be helping out haha

I have received an interview offer as well. stoked.

It said on the invitation that it was provisional. I'm applying for grad entry so it might be slightly different. COngrats other people who have interviews too! I'm looking forward to the trip up to Auckland!

yah i got interview offer as wel :D ! .... on th 13th .... i knw another person on th 10th !!! ..... if u dnt mind ...could i please know ur umat scores and GPA's?!?

My UMAT score is very bad- only 58th percentile but my GPA is about 8.7 or something I think but I haven't got my final results. I think the UMAT counts less for grad entry from what I have been told so I'm not super worried about my UMAT score.

it doesn't count less for grad entry. It's the same 15% across the board I believe

officially it is 15% but when I was talking to them on the phone they said they don't have to use it. They said not to worry too much about it. Maybe they just wanted to make me feel better.

on the website it says that umat is 20 %...... :S ! yah a bit confused lol..... so afta interview they stil take into account academic marks rite?? ....and do u know on avg hw many offers they send out?

it's 20% for interview selection (80% GPA 20% umat)

for final ranking its 15% UMAT 60% GPA 25% interview

any ideas as to how the interviews are graded (apart from the info given at that information evening long ago).. I mean how do they tell the difference between an exceptional candidate and one who is (for lack of a better description).. not so exceptional? And how are you graded anyway? does it mean that if you get a 1 out of 5 for example, you've got 5% out of a potential 25%? I don't understand..

For Auckland Interviews I think there are basically 5 categories.
1. In (you are accepted into MBChB II no matter how bad/good your UMAT and GPA are)
2. A
3. B
4. C
5. Out (you are rejected no matter how good your UMAT/GPA are)

From my understanding, the A, B, C above correspond to 8, 5, 2 respectively.

So, taking an educated guess, I would say a person with 8.00 GPA, 2.00 UMAT assigned GPA, and who performs moderately in the interview ( B ) will have the following final ranking 'score':

8x0.6 + 2x0.15 + 5x0.25 = 6.35

If the above were true, then we can explain why the interview is *SO* influencial despite it only being 25% of the overall ranking.
