Bond Med 2018 Discussion

Has anyone's status changed today? probably not yet. It all depends on supply and demand.

I am in the same boat too. Unfortunately, today Bond has said that “most” first round offers have accepted, and some (if any) second round offers would have been released today. They also said that if no invite was released by tonight then it is likely to assume the person would be unsuccessful in attaining an interview. QTAC should be updated tonight.

It’s so confusing because we continue to get conflicting information!
I spoke to them yesterday and they said interviews will continue to be offered, let’s remain calm and keep an eye out. Don’t think this is a black and white type of situation. Time will tell. Hope for best but be prepared for the worst.

I was also told the same and interview offers will flow until Friday this week. That is hard to understand as the last date by which the rejection of taking the interview offer is today. As you said let’s keep calm and check if QTAC stays the same if the offer was not released.

Btw How many are in the waiting list? Any prediction or information received from them?

Indeed, to be honest I got told last year they made offers during the interview period as well for final few days. Assuming because people didn’t show up and they had spots to fill.

Also considering the admin side, I’m sure they’re not in a rush to get everything done just so we can sleep at night!! Haha, not to question their work ethics or anything but let’s take the timing as a factor! Realistically projects and tasks don’t always run on time, hence the conflicting information we’ve all been fed!

I asked, they said they can’t give me that information!

I expected to some extent that Status Not yet determined would change overnight as it did three days ago in the QTAC site. It did not and no change has happened. Another day begins with more pondering;). Good morning.

Yo homies and fellow future Dr Dre's (hoping not doping), how are we all feelin' for the upcoming interviews? I just feel unsure on what to expect, does anyone have any stories from their previous or other medical interviews?

Fortune favours the Brave: Or Does it really?

Apologies as this may not the correct forum to share…intended for people placed in the waiting list and those got done through psychometric cull out and still pondering about alternatives. Others please concentrate on your Interviews and good luck to all.

A close family friend of ours completed her MBBS overseas. She did her schooling in Australia, got an ATAR close to 90.00 which gave her no chance of doing medicine in Australia as a school leaver. She did not want to pursue GAMSAT as it would take more years or pursue Bond for the cost. By then the required ATAR for Bond was around 95 or so. She finished her medical degree in 5 years from overseas at a fraction of the Bond cost and marginally less than she would have had to incur for accommodation and CSP costs in a public university.

She had to take AMC part 1 MCQ and Part 2 Clinical for recognition in Australia which she completed within 8 months of graduation and internship from overseas. The overseas institution was of course listed in IMED/FAIMER World Directory of Medical Schools and recognised by AMC. She got placement in WA as an Intern and is now heading for RMO. She would have had to wait for about 6 months since taking the Part 2 exam due to timing difference for JMO Intern placement and searching for placement as well. We were told that she got placement almost at the same time as her classmates who did Medicine in JCU, Uni of Adelaide or elsewhere in Australia. Very Lucky and other similar IMG works in South Australia soon after AMC part 2 as WBA, got placement as RMO soon after in Adelaide. Both are Australian Citizens and I thought this is really clever and smart thinking from the girls so to speak and they have been also very lucky to get placement too quickly with IMG qualifications recognised in Australia (Maybe area of need?).

A great success story when all seemed gloom for them to become medical practitioners in Australia. Thought I could share this but not with the intention of swaying anyone to go this path. Many cases also wait to get placement for more than a year even after getting recognised by AMC because priority should be given to local intern placements. Considering the Bond scenario ($$$), it makes me wonder it’s worth that wait. I know the universities they went to with full cost including accommodation came to just less than 30% of what one would incur at Bond now. That time the AUD to USD also worked in their favour as well to pay the fees. Fortune Favoured the Brave Girls!!!

Thanks for sharing! Which university and country did they go to?

'Very Lucky' sounds stupidly lucky to get internship in Australia as a category 7 (!) in WA. I would estimate that the number of people in this priority category who manage to get internship in Australia would be in the single digit figures. As an example, this person would lie between category 5 and 6 in NSW, and ONE person out of 87 applicants in category 5 received an internship in NSW in 2017 (and zero in category 6).

Congratulations to her for managing to come back here to work, but definitely don't expect to get the same result as them by doing a medical degree overseas - the vast, vast majority will not get an internship in Australia.

Agreed. Getting internship by IMGs is next to impossible in Australia unless one manages to get into a WBA program for which competition is stiff. I think the IMGs need a job offer in the area of health service first to get into that program. Hope I got this correct.

Good morning. Did anyone get an update for those on the reserved list in Bond for the interview offer, please? As we reached the penultimate day before the actual interview commencement, I hope they will release it today and put us out of misery  I really want to move on and out of this conundrum...so I could visit a seriously ill family member overseas.

Good morning!
Unfortunately exactly where we left it since completing the psychometric test. I’m sure it’ll change soon, our window is dwindling!

Sorry to hear about the ill relative, I hope they get well soon! :)

Are you a graduate applicant? And if you don't mind me asking, what was your ATAR rank? I'm also still pending :(

my QTAC page still says 'status not yet determined'

my hunch is that people in this category probably satisfied the psychometric test requirements but have been surpassed by others in terms of ATAR/GPA/academic ranking, or the cut-off was purely based on the psychometric test

ATAR 99.20. Not sure if it's good or not. I took all the Science and extension maths and English subjects. 15 units in total in NSW. Got Band 6 scores in all. I am a Y12 school leaver.:(

I will be glad to see that figure of how many people over ATAR 99.00 in the 250 who got selected. We don't get that statistic in this forum as the number of people is less. I think probably they were selected based on Psychometric testing only. One person said he /she got in at 97.40 or so?
