CSU CSU Dentistry: Q&A and General Discussion

Hi I had CSU dent as my first preference :/ so feeling really stressed I won't receive an invite. Unless in previous years they have released them at different times?
I haven't preferenced it but I'm really confused too don't worry yet... lots of other people who have UCATs higher than those who have received invites haven't gotten interviews either....

Do you know what the minimum UCAT was for the people who got an interview with 5th pref?
it shouldn't be based on preferencing.......

Yh, but Universities this year are being really sus with their cutoffs and requirements, so you never know. Like Griffith dent potentially considered preferencing for invites, no clue what CQU med did, but it was not in order of highest to lowest UCAT because some 99 percentiles missed out as well.

Honestly, the invites can be a bit of a mess. Which of why they like to release them on a Friday - so they won't have to deal with anything until Monday morning.
we can't even be surprised. i feel awful for everyone that is waiting though :')

ayyy 99 was me ;))
yeah I totally get what you mean. I guess I'm just reeeeally hoping they don't use preferencing because that gets so so messy. I didn't hear the rumour about griffith tho hmm

You can change your prefs after you get an interview invite though can't you? I really don't think it should be prefs for csu

I just looked at the Invites data. And a 90 and 92 percentile got an interview with first pref and third pref respectively. Whereas, the 98 and 99 percentile people had CSU as their 4th and 5th preference. So, I would say there is a chance that CSU considered preferencing in their selection.

Do you think then because I had preferences CSU 1st then there's no chance? Or would I come under a different section as I am applying as an internal student with GPA over 5.5?

I called CSU and they said there are still some interview invites yet to be sent. They said all applicants will be notified whether they were successful or unsuccessful (you get an email either way apparently) by Monday night. At the very latest, by mid next week.

Although the lady on the phone did seem oddly sympathetic after I gave her my name, so maybe she knows I didn't get one and was just trying to be nice by saying there were more to come haha

Either way everyone will know by next week

I got a score of 3010, put CSU as third pref and still haven't gotten an offer
Anyone know why?
Could just be that you may have to wait till Monday. Your score shouldn't be an issue as I've seen people with sub-3000 scores get a CSU dentistry score on the entry interview invites thread.

hopefully they don't weight certain sections like JPM does or else it's more work for MSO moderators to find out what it is hahaha
I don't think so because my VR score wasn't the best (if they do weight it like WSU med) but I was still able to get an offer in the end.

Please do what I did with WSU weightings - write down the section scores side by side the low Yes vs high No, see if any sections jump out
Well, my scores were:

VR - 670
DM - 770
QR - 900
AR - 870
SJT - 654
WSU score (based on formula) - 745.6

I'll wait for OP to do the same

Here are the current CSU odd cases:

Yes invites
1) 650 710 780 860 - 3000 - 663 SJ - 3rd pref (LJess94)
2) 570 740 880 770 - 2960 - 584 SJ - 1st pref (Chocoholicboi)
3) 600 730 730 890 - 2950 - 630 SJ - 1st pref (Meddent124)

No invites
4) 570 790 800 880 - 3040 - 706 SJ - 5th pref (3300+99.95)
5) 640 740 760 870 - 3010 - 600 SJ - 3rd pref (Yoloucatswag)
6) 700 790 780 690 - 2960 - 646 SJ - 3rd pref (Coffeecup21)

My comments:
- Yes & No groups both have similar high & low scores in each section. This indicates no particular heavy weighting on any section
- 3300+99.95 has said maybe it's combo of [%ile + pref]. This seemed true until we see 3000 3rd pref Yes vs 3010 3rd pref No

- There's a small possibility CSU has added SJ to Overall score. This would explain among the 3rd prefs, (3000+663) is Yes while (3010+600) and (2960+646) are No.

Anyway I'm beat, over to someone keen to speculate further :)

Oh, I had mine at 5th preference btw. So maybe CSU has used order of preference and the UCAT sore including SJT?

Info from another thread: Blondeclarkekent got an invite with 2840 and 6th preference. Info posted here last year suggests non-rural.

I’d wait till the middle of next week before worrying too much about this given CSU have said there are more invites to go out.
