Flinders Flinders Medicine: Provisional Entry General Discussion

In the admission section, there is a mention of an interview. I think the admission requirements of Flinders provisional medicine are now changing. I wonder what bought about the change.
I changed the webpage year to 2023 & 2022, it reads the same yet there was no interview in these years.

Then I figured it out. The Admission requirements box has two parts : the 1st half for domestic with ATAR + UCAT, the 2nd half for international with Year 12 + interview.

A1 I got a Rank of 99.95 at SATAC and am waiting for the med preferences to come out (except for Adelaide Uni). are there any benefits for applying to UES other than a higher rank? e.g. special quota, etc....
Thanks in advance

No, I don't believe there are additional quotas, just a boost to your (already maxed out) ATAR.

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if there's any chance of a Flinders offer with a 99.9 atar and 98%ile ucat? I've heard you need a 99.95 atar, but i'm not sure if ucat could compensate for that.

It looks like there was a (possibly quite late) offer made to someone with an ATAR of 99.75 last year (no report of them having UES to boost to 99.95), so possibly, but maybe not in the early round/s?

Hello guys!
Just wondering if any previous yr 1 and yr 2 found the Bach of Clinical Sciences hard?
Was it "easy/achieveable" to get a 5GPA and move into Doc of Medicine???

Thanks!!!

As A1 said, not hard at all. You really need to completely deprioritise your University study to get under a 5 GPA if you've been offered a place into Clinsci.

If you've decided on Flinders, look for the Clinsci MD 2030 group on Facebook!

aye aye Captain!

Just a question are first-year students required to purchase lab coats and google??
I assume so right since we have practicals.
Do we purchase it from here? Apparel | Flinders University Surgical Society
I can't find any info if we need it or not such as BIOL1102 Prac and CHEM1010 Laboratory.

Many thanks!!

Hi all,

I recently received a first-round unbonded offer from Flinders and enrolled in the course. However, yesterday I received a second-round bonded offer from the University of Adelaide. I am looking for some advice on how to choose between the two - pros and cons of each, etc. I know most people prefer unbonded over anything but I have lived in an RA5 location my whole life so I don't think living rurally for a few years over 18years total is a huge deal (unless it may affect my ability to specialise - which I don't think it does?).

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lightning Strike!

You can purchase any lab coat and they'll be useful from Clinsci to MD. You can purchase them at the Auspost on campus or you can even buy the Adelaide Uni one XD. Hopefully your clinsci reps will have answered the question by now. Otherwise, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have later at orientation as I'll be doing some presenting.

Can someone predict what the UCAT cutoff percentile for interstate non-rural would roughly be this year for 2025 intake

Have a look at the collated data threads and see if you can spot any trends from the limited info we have access to.

From the "Aus Med and Dent Offers 2024 Entry - Collated Data" someone got an offer with ucat 2960. Looks like a second round offer. See below

Course Type: Med
Offer Received: Yes
University (and campus if relevant): Flinders
Date of Offer: 01/02/2024 on SATAC around 1pm
Deadline to Accept: Not sure yet
UCAT: 2960
ATAR or GPA: Raw 97.95 (adjusted 99.95)
Rural: No
Special Considerations: UES
Offer Type: CSP
State of Residence: SA

On the criteria image in the medical entrance section it says Flinders requires +92% ucat, does that include your sjt score, as Flinders also counts sjt. Thank you.

The 92%ile UCAT was what we saw posted on MSO. It didn't include their SJT.
So use it as indicative only. If you get 90%ile with a huge SJT score it could be sufficient.

Does anyone know whether Flinders looks at applicants' SACE aggregate or ATAR when making offers? I was just curious to know whether Flinders will favour those with a SACE aggregate of 90.00 than those with a 89.30 while they both equate to 99.95 ATAR. Thanks.
