Regardless of wether they did or not U of Adelaide have cut down on medicine interview slots pushing percentiles up and depending on who you believe they may have taken those positions directly out of the SA guaranteed interview slots so somewhere around 79th sounds very plausible. Furthermore, Adelaides policy makes all those invites essentially useless as they don't give any advantages to SA residents past the interview stage so if a SA resident got an interview last year with 60 percentile and a low 90s ATAR they could not possibly get an offer even if they had the best interview in the whole cohort. Adelaide is pretty unique with this in the sense that if you have one of the best interviews in the cohort at pretty much any other university you will receive an offer. In my opinion this is a complete oversight by Adelaide and if they are going to guarantee a set number of SA interview offers they should also guarantee a set number of SA places in the course as otherwise the initiative is hindered at best and pointless at worst.Yes that is a lot of assumptions …Actually last year it was more than likely for SA school leavers that a score below 79 received a medical interview in fact it went into the 60 th percentiles… so it is definitely a possibility that interview invites for Adelaide university medicine this year fell below 79 although not reported on mso…
That is always the way that way they aren't slammed on the call lines until Monday lolRight before 5pm so no one can call them over the weekend
Yeah I really don't think they thought this through. The interview becomes a waste of time for many applicants and gives them false hope.Regardless of wether they did or not U of Adelaide have cut down on medicine interview slots pushing percentiles up and depending on who you believe they may have taken those positions directly out of the SA guaranteed interview slots so somewhere around 79th sounds very plausible. Exactly, can't think of another university that does it like that. It's not really fair if someone gets an interview it should be possible for them to receive an offer if they say place in the top 5% of applicants in the interview regardless of other outcomes.Yeah I really don't think they thought this through. And the first part of my statement responded to that explaining less interview spots in total and that they may have been taken from SA locals pushing the percentiles up from last year... Also yes there may have been offers for rural individuals with lower combined UCAT/ATAR I don't believe there were combinations of extremely low UCAT percentiles plus a lower end ATAR score from a SA Local. If you get a high 99 ATAR even with a lower UCAT you can still be competitive its more Adelaides combination of a 90 ATAR minimum plus lower UCAT percentile for SA locals making it impossible for some to gain admission even after receiving an invite for an interview.Thank you but I am very much aware of all that given that I am SA based… however the original question was whether the ucat cut off score for SA school leavers had fallen below 79 for interviews as it is possible…it was not regarding offers… however there were reports of offers being made to those with low ucats although they seem to be the outlier … so yes I do agree that the Adelaide uni invites overall do seem somewhat useless if you are at the lower end
Very disheartening. Really calls into question the whole selection process. So absent of transparency.Exactly, can't think of another university that does it like that. Last year I got a rejection email from them on the 15th of December, which is well after interview offers were released (and potentially after the interviews were run as well). So yes, it does seem to be usual practice by WSU.Very disheartening. Really calls into question the whole selection process. So absent of transparency.
On another note, contacted WSU today and this time they said invites will be rolled out across this week and next week.
They said they will not be letting candidates know if they have been unsuccessful but unsuccessful candidates should surmise that by the absence of an invite by the end of next week.
Is this usual practice by WSU - candidates are not given the courtesy of a simple rejection email?
Same. And yes, it was definitely after interviews were run.Last year I got a rejection email from them on the 15th of December, which is well after interview offers were released (and potentially after the interviews were run as well). So yes, it does seem to be usual practice by WSU.
Hi, "Please note – For entry 2021, due to COVID, the structure of the Multiple Skills Assessment has been modified to allow it to be delivered via zoom. Details will be provided in the letter of invitation. The Personal Qualities Assessment will not be used for selection for entry 2021."^^ here and this was on the JMP website regarding 2021 entry

Probably because they are resetting the page for 2022 entry I read the same thing though earlier in the year and there was someone on MSO who emailed them and confirmed no PQA this year.Hi, "Please note – For entry 2021, due to COVID, the structure of the Multiple Skills Assessment has been modified to allow it to be delivered via zoom. I cannot find this one the website.. I would really appreciate if you could send a link

I stand corrected!here you go!
Hmmm not sure about that^. UAdel had used this method much earlier. Back in my year 6-7yrs ago they gave SA students a UMAT bonus (20pts iirc = roughly 240pts UCAT) to get more SA to interview, but stated clearly this bonus didn't apply to the final ranking. They have had years to think it through.Yeah I really don't think they thought this through.
The ATAR thing is outside of Adelaide's control because they come out after interviews. UCAT, though, they can control. 91-92%ile was still fair grounds to get an offer provided your ATAR or interview was stellar, but I don't think the same can be said for 70%ile UCAT scores. It's interesting to see that even though Adelaide flipped their interview process on its head last year, the ATAR+UCAT combos of those who got an offer barely changed - very, very few people below 90%ile UCAT got an offer.Hmmm not sure about that^. On the zero-chance interviewees situation, it also existed in the years they didn't have this SA concession. Example two years ago the common cutoff was 91st%ile, an applicant (SA or interstate) with 91-92%ile + ATAR 95.0 wouldn't have got an offer even with an absolute top interview. Again it's not something new to UAdel.
UNSW incorporate degree of rurality into their calculation. If those applicants were, say RA4 equivalent and you are RA2, that could be the difference? Correspondence from UNSW on this topic is usually quite useful/accurate. For example, the year I applied I got an email saying my combo of scores meant I had a 5% chance of offer and did I still want to attend an interview. I didn’t because I was fortunate to have three other offers by then and it would have meant flying to NSW for a 5% chance. UNSW are the only uni I recall that provide this advice, so, unfortunately it probably is accurate but you could contact them to check. If you don’t have other UAC preferences you’d be interested in adding you could always just leave it.Not sure if this is the right spot to ask, but I got a UNSW rejection letter saying that 48th percentile is too low for a rural applicant and that I should remove UNSW from my preferences.
Given that some people last year got interview invites with a 2410 (36th percentile) and 2420 (43rd), should I remove the preference or just keep it there?
I would argue though, a 70ish %ile + ATAR 99.90 + top interview can reach the place offer cutoff, considering UCAT weights only half of the other two (equivalent to 1 bottom + 4 tops overall). The ATAR thing is outside of Adelaide's control because they come out after interviews. I'm RA5 I think, just really puzzled. The other applicants got their interview invites in December, so does this mean they would have got rejection letters like me and then got an interview over a month later?UNSW incorporate degree of rurality into their calculation. Where did you get the info re. those interview invites with percentiles into the 30s? Lowest reported here was 59th (at last check), and for offer was 2590 or similar (not sure of percentile). If nothing to add, I’d leave it but definitely not count on it.I'm RA5 I think, just really puzzled. I don't have anything else to add so may as well just leave it, but just wondering if others got told 'no' and then got an interview way later?
