General Interview Discussion and Questions: 2022 Entry

Yeah but I suspect there will be less invites getting rolled out later, because everyone will be interviewing everywhere because the interviews are on zoom. No one is gonna be turning down invites because of issues that don't allow them to travel, or coming on here, seeing they're right at the bottom of the UCAT score range and deciding they don't want to spend the money to fly because of that.
When I meant interview invite a little later, I was referring to first round invites, not top up invites. WSU last year sent out invites to interstate + rural students on 23rd Oct and GWS students on 26th Oct. The top up invites occurred on 11th November. (This is after people having accepted).

Ahhh that makes sense. I'd still expect to see less top ups this year (and last year too I guess) than usual though.

Yeah it seems like the info getting thrown around keeps changing so i guess we just sit tight and wait........
I just called WSU admissions again for everyone on here the SOM at WSU has advised the admissions team interview offers have been pushed back until the end of next week not sure exactly what the hold up is but it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day interviews are not until December 1-3rd so still heaps of time team

ahhh so you guys don't think the JPM invites will be out today ? :((( I just want them to rip the bandaid off already lol

Logically I know that, but with a lowish WSU score that could have me bumped off the bottom of the list if the cutoff goes up too much this year, I just want to know if I've got a chance. I want to rip the band-aid off now, and it's especially frustrating when I thought I might've known last Friday.

WSU will have a reason for releasing the scores later, don’t think they’re doing it for no reason. I’m sure they’re all trying there hardest to get the scores released. Also try not to stress too much about that it’s completely outside of your control so you can’t do anything to stop it

Same here, just want to see if I got a chance this year or not. Even if it doesn’t go our way, we always have a chance to smash it next year!

Yeah… just called admissions and they have been notified by the medical school to inform people calling interviews have been pushed to next week.
Also for anyone waiting on Charles Sturt dental science, interview offers won’t be until November either ❤️

That's true. But being non-standard, I also need to start figuring out things like whether I can go part time at my current job if I get in (and finding a new part time job that will be ok working around med school hours if I can't). I'm pretty sure they will, but I can't start doing any of that properly until I find out if I've at least got an interview.

I could also potentially get trained in new skills at my job as well since someone is leaving, but I don't think it would be fair on them for me to offer to learn those things and then ask about going part time and working mostly out of hours, when they don't do those tests out of hours.

Completely understand mate, I am also non-standard but will have to relocate from Western Australia if I get in. The things you've listed there can't be changed until the offer stage anyhow even if we all receive offers for interview historically WSU has offered at a rate of 1 out of 3 so statistically there's 66.6% chance we won't get in post interview. I think its just important to remember that WSU staff have lives outside of the university too and at the end of the day there is still over a month until interviews themselves. We should all count ourselves lucky that WSU isn't like UNSW and releasing interview offers the day of the interview lol.

Oh, absolutely! That's gotta be rough, moving from interstate, there's only like 2 weeks between when place offers go out, and when classes start, which isn't a lot of time for anyone, but especially if you've already moved out and have *stuff* to move (as opposed to when I moved out into student accommodation with a bed and stuff and all I brought were my clothes and I went to Kmart for pots and pans).

Yeah I own my house too so ill need to get rid of/move most of my furniture but it's okay easy enough to accomplish with two weeks notice. It's just a shame that NSW ATARs are released later this year or we would have more time.

Yeah, that's definitely a lot to deal with! I wish you luck with that.
