Do you guys know if Griffiths uses hd as 85% or over? For example, I had my GPA calculated by gemseas and Griffiths GPA was 6.833 while deakin was 6.896.

The reason for the difference is that Griffith uses an unweighted GPA while Deakin uses a weighted GPA.

For dentistry applications, this isn’t relevant, as QTAC will be processing your application, not GEMSAS. Your GPA will likely just be the same as what your academic transcript says (unless you’ve completed an honours year).

If you do study at Griffith, then yes, 85+ is required for a HD.

Thanks for your reply. I finished biomedicine from Monash and my GPA is 3.75 on a scale of 4. Do you have any idea what that would be on scale on 7? Sorry to bother you, I just you to understand if I have a chance.

No worries - we’re here to help!

You’ll need to recalculate your GPA by looking at the result you achieved in each individual unit, converting that to a number grade of 1-7, then finding the average. I suspect because Monash uses a 1-4 system that when your GPA is recalculated they’ll use the 85+=7, 75+=6, 65+=5, 50+=4 system, which unfortunately won’t work in your favour, I don’t imagine.

Try calculating your GPA from the above and see where it comes out - if it’s 6.7+ you’re in with a shot for Griffith dentistry. Otherwise, you may need to aim for elsewhere.

Adding to Crow's reply, assuming your Monash transcript shows for each unit both a mark and a grade code (HD/D etc) QTAC will only use the grade codes for calculation. So ignore the marks, just give 7 to HD, 6 to D etc then calculate the average (which means whether a HD is 85+ or 80+ is not relevant to QTAC).

I just found that QAS statement from UAC calculated my GPA (7 pt scale): 6.75

That makes sense. Your Monash GPA 3.75/4 means for the three years' 24 units you got 90 out of 96, 6 grade points less than max. On the 7pt scale 6 less than max is 162 out of 168, so GPA = 162 / 24 = 6.75.

QTAC is likely the same for you.

Just wondering, is my GPA going to be calculated by QTAC? I contacted Griffith's dentistry/medicine's admissions team and they told me how my GPA will be calculated. Should I also contact qtac?

That's true, I didn't think of that. We believe QTAC will do the GPA calculation and we've been told of the method QTAC uses in general. However individual schools can instruct/request QTAC to calculate differently for them. Best to talk to both.

Btw IMO 6.75 completed degree should be more highly regarded than 6.875 of first year units. I hope Griffith Dent will take that into consideration on your behalf.
That’s definitely not something they take into consideration unfortunately, unless they’re changing their methods this year.

sorry I am just new here.i don't know much more about this so...and what about gpa?
Griffith GPA requirement has usually been around a 6.875+ to a 7.0 GPA on a 7 point scale. They do not use UCAT in their selection and there are no interviews.

I want to know about the qualifications required in ielts,+2 level to enroll in griffith university to study bachelor of dental health science.
Will you be applying as an international student? You need a 7.0 on the IELTS with no subsection below 7.0. Bachelor of Dental Health Science (1577)

The above post about GPA requirements is applicable to domestic students but not international students. Unfortunately we have limited data on international student requirements for Griffith dentistry on MSO. If you contact the Griffith admissions team they may give you an indication of the requirements for international students.

I have sent an email to them but they haven't reply me.Yes i will be applying as an international student. What is MSO can you please explain me?
When did you email them? It's a very busy time of year I imagine, so give it some time if you've only sent it recently.

MSO is the site that you posted this on! MedStudentsOnline = MSO
