International Students: General Medicine Entry

Hey, I'm thinking bout applying to NZ citizenship this year but I'll have to apply to AU uni as an international student. So I guess, my status would change in the middle of the course..
Is there any university that allow my status change from international to domestic student?
I'm very lost atm... it's soo confusing

I remember this coming up for at least one other student here. From memory, they were pretty confident it was possible but the question was whether they would automatically move to a CSP (which is limited by the government), or to a FFP domestic student spot. There are definitely other posts here about this, but I’m not 100% sure which thread. Maybe try a few search terms?

I just think that person was thinking of just CSP and FFP but I was thinking more bout if we need to reapply for the course or could we not continue the program if it change?

Oh, right. I definitely don’t think they’d make you reapply, that doesn’t make sense to me. But it’s certainly not an area of expertise for any regulars around here so you’d be best getting confirmation from any Uni you’re planning to apply to.

Hey, I have just got it confirmed with some AU universities about change from international to domestic during their medicine program. I've seen some people in similar situation with me so I'll just list some out.

Most provisional entry courses do not accept change in the residency status from international to domestic which I found out.

UNSW: for Medical Studies and Medicine - states that you would have to reapply if that happens but when you are accepted then you would be able to continue your Medical Studies and Medicine course.
Monash: for Biomedical Science and Medicine - states that your status would change but you would still have to continue to pay the international fees for the program.
University of Adelaide: if there is domestic position vacant at the time your status changes, you would be able to change. But if not, you won't be able to continue the course.

In conclusion, most AU universities do not accept the change in residency status from international to domestic during the course.
I hope it helps out to anyone in the similar situation... btw that means my study in ISAT is useless now

im a non standard entry aimer and got 179, 170 qr 188 cr as of now. im aiming for unsw and wsu at the moment as im studying in usyd as of now and planning to stay throughout

oh that was a good score!! goodluck with your application i’m applying as a school leaver tho but i have no idea whether i would get into med or not my score is like not high enough and not that low

oh thats cool! which schools are you planning to apply for meds? any in nsw?

hi, i just got accepted into unsw as an international student. Im in a bit of a dilemma because I also got into Auckland medicine this year (2nd year). I am not sure which one to go to, would becoming a doctor at UNSW really be worth it considering the difference in fees (as i will pay domestic fees if i choose to stay in auckland) and other stuff?
