Would low 99 be enough?

That depends - as A1 stated before, it's based on your combined ATAR and UMAT score for second round. With a low 99 and a 96%ile UMAT I would be expecting one for sure though.

Yes, for sure. Relax.

Ok thanks, sorry about lots of questions I'm kinda stressed since I was expecting an Adel offer

The rural bonus for Adelaide really makes a difference by the looks of things. When you see 96% miss out but 73% Rural get an offer then it is a huge thing. Of course it is there for a reason given the desire to attract and keep doctors in country areas and the reasoning that country kids are more likely than city kids to become country doctors. I wonder if that reasoning bears out in reality.

I think they are forced to do a certain amount of years in the country after graduating. But they'd probs move to the city eventually

Despite rising cutoffs I'm reasonably sure you'll get interviews with Monash & Unsw.
With low 99 & 96%ile you'll go in with a fair margin but still need a good interview score to get in the top third for a place.

I can't get UNSW unfortunately, I applied through uac but forgot to apply to uni :(

Got Adelaide Med and Dent interview offers

School-leaver: Yes

Nope you are confused between rural bonus and BMP places, they are two separate schemes.

rural bonus would also have some foundation in access to quality education. The local country high school is not comparable to James Ruse. Place a high quality bunch of students in a high quality teaching environment and obviously you will see high quality outcomes. A kid that lives in the bush may have the potential to excel in that environment also but without access to it suffers.

Have you called UNSW med, in particular Mr David Boothey who is always super kind and helpful.
Not applying through UAC would be a fatal sin but the supplementary app to UNSW med I think isn't as strict, maybe they still allow?

Is anyone struggling to login into the Adel booking page?

I emailed the admissions people and they said I couldn't do anything

Nope, rural applicants who gain entrance through that pathway won't have any strings attached unless they are also on a BMP, which would be 25% of them.

If it were up to me I would offer BMPs only to metropolitan applicants as a much larger proportion of rural applicants go back rural to practice anyway.

A kid that lives in the bush may have the potential to excel in that environment also but without access to it suffers.

While there are some arguments about the fairness of student selection in terms of access to education, the motive for offering the rural pathway to rural applicants is more likely so that they are able to meet the demand for more rural practicing doctors.

That is, as much as there is this whole issue about "fairness" between candidates applying, the big picture is all about training people who will fill the workforce demand and thus provide services to the people who need it.

That is, fairness to the students is secondary to the needs of the community and so the rural bonus points are 100% justified based on this alone.
