Interview offers & dates 2016-17

Maybe UNSW might change their date as they said the 24th isn't confirmed.

From the invitation email:
"3. Interstate applicants who were selected for an interview at UNSW will be given an opportunity to attend the interview at UNSW if they still wish to do so on 24 January 2017. Please do not make any travel arrangements until we confirm the interview (second week of January)."

I have no idea if that means anything...

In that invitation email it's your interview offer that isn't confirmed, being provisional.
The interview date 24th Jan is stated not only in the email but also here
> Local applicants | Medicine

Anyone wanting to attend both UNSW and Monash, beg either uni now to give you an interview in their 4th-5th Jan round instead of the interstate round.

Let's hope Mana's alerts to the unis will result in a date change, but if not this shows it is possible to request UNSW for an earlier round.

@ferrisbueller is from Melbourne yet posted a 1st round place offer from Unsw last year

Replying to my question how she said she didn't have Chem pre-req for Monash so didn't apply there, as such wasn't waiting for a home-state offer would like an early interview with UNSW. Her request was granted just on that reason.

That said I suggest you try to request Monash first for 4-5 Jan, if successful you have the week of 23-27 Jan for the three NSW unis together.

I have a response from Monash in regards to the clashing dates:

Hi MSO. We've talked to the Medicine team and unfortunately they're unable to change the date. However, they've said there are two dates scheduled - those being the 24th and 25th, if this additional day helps. Confirmation of that extra day is here: Important Dates - domestic applicants

Thanks Mana. That's an early version for general info, this one gives in more detail: 24th for Medicine, 25th for Physio & Radiography
> 2017 interview and selection schedule

I suppose Monash can squeeze a few Med applicants into 25th (they told me last year 2nd day is for any Med if "spilled over") but that doesn't solve the clash with WSU.

Oh so it doesn't. I might have to go back to them with this. In the meantime, everyone request early round interviews.

Reply from Monash:
Hi MSO,
Unfortunately the two dates of 24th and 25th can't be moved or added to. We wish you well with your decision-making and success in whichever interviews you choose.

Uh oh. I received an interstate offer to UWA today too. (UMAT 98%ile, non-rural, NSW, school leaver). Apparently the interviews will be held on the morning of 25th January. As a pre-caution, I'm anticipating an interstate offer to Monash as well (24th-25th January).

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Go to Monash on 24th and fly to UWA on 25th? Or talk to one of the universities to try for an earlier round? It'd suck a lot if I had to ultimately choose between the two...

Talk to the universities to try for an earlier round. I would try to move Monash's first. If they absolutely cannot give you an earlier round interview, then you could ask for the 25th (provided it doesn't clash with your UWS interview also on the 25th).

For those that have done the JMP interview, did you receive any emails before the interview telling you a little bit about the format, venue, etc and if so how long before the interview were they sent? I have my interview in late Jan but havent been told anything else about it yet, even the venue which is really annoying coz i need to book travel and accomodation

Yes, for me it was in the invitation email:

Registration Time: 2.50 pm AEDT

Registration Venue: School of Rural Medicine, Patricia O’Shane Building (C013)

MSA / PQA will conclude at approx: 6.00 pm AEDT

Candidates MUST arrive at the above venue at the time indicated for registration. Candidates who are late for registration will not be able to be included in their allocated MSA / PQA session.

Hey guys, does anyone know what the medical interview pass rate for Chancellor's Scholars are at UniMelb? The interview is now in 3rd year which is slightly distressing. Thanks!

Generally the cutoff scores to get into Melbourne's medical program are so high that if you scored high enough for a Melbourne MD interview (through the GAMSAT pathway) that you would qualify for a place at UQ, where no interview is required. The proportion of people who interview at Melbourne who get into Melbourne's MD through the GAMSAT pathway is around 2/3 of the interviewees. That is, 1/3 will not get in.

I would be more inclined to take every other possible provisional undergraduate place over this, as the proportions of all other provisional entry medicine around the country that then fails to get in is close to zero.

Can anyone shed light on the double degree medicine at university of Sydney for high ATAR school leaver's...
there is an assessment day in 4 jan which includes a 30 min written assessment + 30min faculty discussion...does anyone know about the format of all this..?
Thanks:)
