Hi! I was just wondering, if you do a single-course degree like dentistry and received a pass for first year and may receive a credit the second year... so the GPA would come out as 4.5 over the 2 years. Would that still not be considered to the thought to be "cut-off" for an incomplete Bachelor's degree? You see, for the dental students to get a "pass" in our final year results, we need a raw mark of 60-69 and a "credit" requires a 70-79, even if the actual uni itself considers a pass a 50-64 and a credit a 65-74. It's just how our dental marking scheme works. Is it definitive that no matter how I pull my marks that a "4.5 GPA" just wouldn't be good enough? Since it's a single-course degree, it becomes extremely difficult to pull a higher GPA for me, especially with the harsh marking standards for my course. The JMP requirements does say that a "close to credit average" is required and my ultimate question is that would the 4.5 GPA be good enough? And if JMP just simply looks at the pass and credit and eliminates the candidate from consideration immediately? Or would they bother to check my final year mark given? It all just becomes very confusing with the way my degree is marked...

I know this is a mess so thank you for taking the time to read all of this!

This sounds like quite a unique case, so I’d recommend contacting the JMP admissions team directly to confirm how they’d assess your application. The “close to credit average” does imply some flexibility (but we’ve had reports that it’s 4.7 IIRC) so perhaps they would be ok with 4.5 in your case.

Thank you so much for replying this quickly :) it's been a point of stress and my degree's marking scheme is such an absolute headache so you saying that there might be some flexibility is at least some relief. Thanks, again! I'll definitely contact them as soon as I can :)

Yes, you can submit a special circumstances-type request, but JMP consider these on a case by case basis and are not obliged to uphold the request.

Try contacting the JMP team and outlining your personal situation, and ask if it would be sufficient grounds for preferential campus allocation. They may be able to give you an answer regarding your situation prior to the interview stage (I haven't heard of anyone trying this before, but it's worth a shot I think).

I know of a couple of people who tried, but I have no idea what the specifics of their request was or the outcome, sorry. I think the general consensus is that it's pretty rare to have the request upheld.
 
For those of you who've applied to jmp through uac do you guys see the green tick with "you will be competing with other applicants for an offer" under the preference? it's under all my other preferences but not jmp does anyone know why it could be?

yeah I see it, maybe you aren't eligible with prerequisites or something? Probably worth an email to UAC/JMP or both

JMP doesn't have any pre-requisites.

ETA: pokopoko99 every year we have people panicking over codes and updates on UAC and every year they are inaccurate and nothing to worry about. If you're really worried then give UAC a call tomorrow (they're generally very helpful), but I suspect it's just an updating lag (as I said, this happens every year).
 
Hey guys, new to this whole forum thing, but I was wondering about what to expect from the PQA portion of the JMP interview if I do end up getting an invite? I'm just praying its not UCAT 2.0 :(.

I believe it's related to this > PQA Tests

Click on Our Team you will see it's headed by several UoN professors.

In my year we applied with one JMP entry in the UAC pref list, then in the direct application to JMP we ticked a box to indicate to be considered for BMP *as well*. Isn't it the same this year?
