JMP JMP: General Entry Discussion

Interesting chart taken from a publication by David Powis one of the PQA professors.

Interview Ranks 4 & 5 ("Poor scores / Applicant unsuitable") occur exclusively in higher TER/ATAR students haha

There are also (by looking at it) more applicants overall that have higher (say, 97.50+) TER scores, so that's an already skewed number to start with, but regardless, it's still quite an interesting graphic (and also, perhaps, not super surprising, from a psychology point of view). ETA: do you know what year this data is from? The use of TER is quite telling, I think, as ATAR took over in the late nineties in most areas.

That's true. But if we compare sub-98 and 98+ Ns they look about the same, yet 1 red dot vs a dozen.

It's ancient, pre-2000.

Hey,

Is JMP entry based on a combination of the PQA and MMI, or only the MMI? If it’s the former, are they weighted 50/50 or differently?

Thanks!!

We believe, but I don’t think we know for sure, that the PQA is used to eliminate a certain portion of applicants before MSA (not MMI at JMP) scores are then used to rank the remaining applicants.

So it’s both, but in a sequential manner, not simultaneous.

Also worth noting that GPA/ATAR is used to eliminate candidates after interview but before offer ranking.

Ooh, I see. Is the PQA similar to personality tests at job interviews or is it like the SJT from the UCAT?

Does anyone know whether jmp will be weighting sections differently or just the overall score excluding sjt?

For those of you who've applied to jmp through uac do you guys see the green tick with "you will be competing with other applicants for an offer" under the preference? it's under all my other preferences but not jmp does anyone know why it could be?
Thanks
Hi! I was wondering if you sorted this issue out as I checked my UAC, and I don't have the green tick either! Thanks!

I called them quite a while back (a few days after the post) and the guy told me that its completely fine. Also, like people have said on the other threads, there's probably only reason for concern when it says you're ineligible.

Oh awesome, thank you!

Has anyone been getting promotional emails from JMP? I keep on getting promotional emails from WSU, UNSW etc just wishing me luck for exams blah blah blah. But I haven't been getting any for JMP and I'm worried that I might not have filled out my application correctly, and that I'm not on their emailing list.

Don’t stress I just checked and all I’ve received so far from JMP is the application submitted email :)

Good afternoon everyone, has anyone heard from UON/Armidale 'JMP' interview invites ? Just checking in case I missed anything. :( Thanking you ahead.

No, there has been nothing posted about interview invites being released from JMP at the moment. I am sure there will be a surge of activity on the forums when they are :).
