JMP JMP: General Entry Discussion

Uni: UON (JMP)
Course: Medicine
Percentile: 60%
VR: 660
DM: 660
QR: 650
AR: 600
Total: 2570
SJ: 586
Current GPA: I think its 6, or just below
Rural: No
State: NSW
Other considerations: No

Not really sure how I got an interview, but sure.

That would throw everything out if true.

2840 (90) is to be excepted and almost eerily similar to Adelaide's cutoff last year - 89.x - both now rank applicants on overall UCAT scores only and have no cutoffs that need to be met for specific sections.

It would be a double punch in the gut if Adelaide's cutoff is similar to or even identical to JMP's :(
Rest assured that UAld cutoff would be in the mid 80's since they don't accept nonstandards unlike JMP

Is it possible to qualify for rural without even realising it yourself - that's the only possibility I can think of apart from an error.

Oh, after seeing that 2840 is the cut-off (unsure of the validity from the commenter before) wouldn't that mean they're only interviewing those in the 90th percentile? Compared to the much lower percentiles that were offered in prior years. Or are there another round of interview invites?
I remember seeing someone said that around 3000 applications were recieved, that would corroborate with the 2840 cutt off

What?! That's like 90th percentile! The previous years even 80th%tile UMAT got interviews right?
Keep in mind that in previous years they have just wanted a minimum of 50 (out of 100) in each section (three sections in UMAT) and then ranked based on the section 1 score so lower percentiles could get interviews with higher section 1 scores. Unfortunately it appears this year they're just going off total scores with UCAT and so a higher percentile is required. Hope that makes sense.

Last year's was 89.x tho :(
If you look at WSU collation, you see that the majority of peeps there are non-standards with many being in the really high 90s. As a high school graduate, you already face less competition with these non-standards not being part of the cohort.

Edited by Moderator: UAdel discussion is off topic for the JMP thread. Please take any further discussion to the UAdel thread.

Equity maybe? I'm clutching at straws at this point.

No equity at JMP. As mentioned, I have followed up with the user. If anything relevant comes from that, I will report back.

ETA: confirmation of rural application.

"We intend to send notifications to all applicants. However formal advice to non-successful applicants may not be sent immediately. I can advise that the non-rural UCAT cut-off was 2840. We used an aggregate score across the four cognitive tests to rank applicants to fill the available interview places, of which there are approximately 850"
