JMP JMP: General Entry Discussion

FYI for those booking accommodation at Armidale for interviews, the interview form says to write 'JMP' in the special needs box, but you actually need to put in 'JMP' as a group code on the accommodation portal.

I just called them (spke to sue from UNE) who said that rn the interviews for vic/tassie/non-rural non-school leaver will be sent after the interviews for all those others than what I just said

^^relating to JMP

Surely this will go down by 10 points because someone out there will decline their JMP interview offer??
Sadly even if someone rejects it, they have so many people they don't bother rerelease more :( because they pre-book the interview times.

yeah i got the same score. unless Sue got it mixed up or i misheard her, we both missed out unfortunately.
If this is true, would it be the case that UoN/UNE is interviewing less people, or is it because of a different weighting system? I have no idea how UMAT weighting works. Either way unlucky :// there's UAdel to wait on tomorrow

What do you mean? There’s no predetermined cutoff. Why do you think they’re interviewing less people than previous years?

JMP have previously used 50/50/50 as a cut off and then offered down the S1 UMAT list for interview invites. We strongly speculated that the move to using the total UCAT score would shift the balance in favour of higher UCATs and move JMP more into line with UAdel. This is exactly what appears to have happened.

2840 (90) is to be excepted and almost eerily similar to Adelaide's cutoff last year - 89.x - both now rank applicants on overall UCAT scores only and have no cutoffs that need to be met for specific sections.

It would be a double punch in the gut if Adelaide's cutoff is similar to or even identical to JMP's :(

Oh, after seeing that 2840 is the cut-off (unsure of the validity from the commenter before) wouldn't that mean they're only interviewing those in the 90th percentile? Compared to the much lower percentiles that were offered in prior years. Or are there another round of interview invites?
