JMP JMP: General Entry Discussion

Hey,

Would opting in for a BMP increase my chances of getting into the JMP?

Cheers

Yes, because it opens up the 28.5% of places that will be bonded. If you refuse a bonded offer, you can't be considered for over 1/4 of all places offered.

To clarify, opting for BMP *only* does not increase your chances, but opting for CSP+BMP does (over CSP only).

You can't do that for JMP. You have to specify interest in a BMP, but the CSP is obviously implied.

Hey guys, not sure where to post this but my university exams start on the of jmp interviews and the exam timetable hasnt been released. If an exam and the interview coincide, how accommodating would JMP be? As anyone reported this sort of problem before? Thanks !!

I think that would be a very reasonable thing for JMP to accommodate. I'd be very surprised if they didn't let you interview on a different date if there was a clash.

I know for a fact that JMP have moved interview slots around on occasion. I'd just given them a call to see how they'd like you to proceed, how much notice you need to give them to organise a change, etc...

I just called Sue regarding this. She told me to get in contact with the team once I receive my timetable (next Monday).

The email they sent has all the instructions on how to try and rearrange an interview.
“If you are unable to attend on the date or time indicated above please contact the School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle as soon as possible ([email protected]). A request for change of date and time will only be considered under exceptional circumstances. Even in exceptional cases there is no guarantee that a request for change can be accommodated. If you decide not to attend your scheduled MSA / PQA session please contact us as soon as possible in order that your vacated slot may be used to accommodate requests for change. Failure to attend your allocated session will lead to the cancellation of your application.”

I'm sure that there's some info about this up on here, but could anyone please direct me to some info/past candidate's experiences and tips on the Personal Qualities Assessment (PQA)?
The PQA website (that JMP has linked in the interview invite) explains what the PQA is quite well and provides some examples of the questions. I found this but it’s not much....I assume that’s because candidates are required to sign an NDA for JMP interviews but idk if this applies to the PQA

I believe the NDA applies to all components of the interview, yep.

So this might get lost in the hype of interviews but had a general question about offers - well related to JMP.

As JMP only sends out offers to NSW/QLD/ACT students first and waits on interstate offers (hoping that students take offers from their own state) I had 3 questions:
1. Is it 800ish students total - including rural, aboriginal & interstate + normal.
2. Is there 170 places up for grabs evenly or are aboriginal/rural guaranteed a certain % of these places.
3. Do interstate universities offer positions before JMP (i.e. December round) meaning that many of those interstate applicants who could have been invited to an interview, could already have a position at their respective university - i.e. meaning less overall applicants (<800)?

Thanks LMG! A1 TKAO and whoever else loves answering these sort of questions :)

I'm not sure but from my understanding, JMP has already sent out their interviews on the 28th. I think that included local and interstate applicants.

Yeah I understand they have been sent out - I should have denoted outside of NSW,QLD & ACT for interstate. - i'll fix that now.
