Remember that GPA is a hurdle only, and place offer selection is based purely off interview performance (with UCAT score used as a tiebreaker if necessary).

Spending the night at Mary White College, you can organise it for cheap at the student accomodation portal
just got an interstate interview. On their website it says 1 year of a single program. I have completed a semester of engineering and a semester of health sciences( as of end of 2019). Do I need to email them with the intention to defer to complete another semester of health science?
Or will they just use both semesters gpa ( note UAC has confirmed to me that they will provide JMP with both GPA's)

You can’t defer an interview, only an offer. If you do not have an eligible GPA* you would not be eligible for an offer and would need to re-sit UCAT next year and apply again unfortunately.
* I don’t actually know whether they’d consider your two half years from different programs (that wording you’ve quoted would suggest otherwise), you may need to contact JMP admissions and seek direct advice.
If by year end you have not completed 1 year of any single uni program JMP will use your ATAR as hurdle instead. Hopefully yours was 94.5+?
I think the only way out for you is, if possible, beg your uni to re-direct your current Health Sc units back into Engineering as electives, to make it 1 full year.
Do you recall on what basis they previously informed you your application was ineligible?
Also, A1, I just re-read the 2020 JMP prospectus and the wording on the use of ATAR or GPA is a bit weird... it says ATAR won’t be used if you have 1FTE of tertiary study, but... it also says GPA will only be used if you have 1FTE in a single program (this is not specified in the first part where it just refers to 1FTE). It would seem ridiculous, but taken on face value, two half years would rule out ATAR (as 1FTE has been reached), but also rule out GPA (as 1FTE in a single program has not been reached).
I hope this^ implies 1FTE in a single program (despite not stated in the prospectus).
I just rechecked the JMP webpage, it says "Your university study will be used to assess your academic eligibility if you will have completed at least one year full-time in a single program of study.... by the end of 2019. In this case, you will not be considered based on your Year 12 results."
Sue go back to me with:
"When assessing your academic eligibility at the end of 2019 we will not see one year full-time in a single program of study, but we will two 0.5 years of study. Therefore we will not be able to use your university studies to assess your academic eligibility as it does not fulfill the criteria noted above."
essentially I have an interview with no chance of actually getting an offer. I don't see the point in going to the interview so it looks like I'll still be at Adelaide uni if I get into med or not.

I suggest if affordable you should do the interview as a practice run for next year.
I think that should be the case. It'd be silly of JMP to bar all less than 1 single-program FTE students from applying if they won't take ATAR.

You don't have to worry if your completed degree's GPA was 4.3+. You would if it was lower.
Iirc ~110 at UoN + 60 at UNE = 170.
That's domestic including rurals. I usually don't include international headcounts in my posts since they go through a different selection process.
