Med and Dent - 2018 Entry (Place Offers and Discussion)

Previously it was believed Flinders allocated around 25 places to the provisional intake. Yesterday FlyingAce showed me a search by Course code in the Adelaide Advertiser, 56 offers have been made this year. Allowing for a number of declines it's probably safe to estimate this intake has increased from 25 to 40-45, good news for school leavers but opposite for those hoping for grad entry. (Btw Flinders med cohort is around 130)

It has always been 25 domestic and the rest internationals. I don't think that has changed.
 
I've seen somewhere on this forum that the paper show that flinders has around 50 offers in previous years too. Probably a lot of declines. Cause of the high atar, there is probably a higher chance they'll get an offer at other universities too.
Edit: it was in the 2013 flinders med offer thread where they talk about the 52 offers.

Hey guys, I just received a call from Adelaide University who were offering me an interview. I’ve already been offered two medicine courses, one of which I have enrolled in, so it made no difference for me. Just letting those who are still waiting that there is hope!

Hi Javajhsbjs16389, did they offer you an interview or a place? I thought interviews were all done.

Congrats on your offers! We've heard from a couple of people about these 15 min phone interviews- all of which have been rural so far.
 
I am a little intrigued by the scenario which results in Adelaide needing to offer additional one off phone interviews (although happy for the lucky few recipients). As I understand it, Adelaide offers interviews based on UMAT score and at the outset interviewed some 600+ (not sure of the exact no) applicants from across Aus. If we assume some of those interviewed are an absolute no to getting an offer, then of the remaining, does this imply all of the remaining have been offered and either accepted or rejected their offer? Seems like a high reject rate even allowing for Adelaide offering interstate applicants before they have seen their home state offers. Any thoughts on this?

From reports to date, it appears these ‘top up’ interviews have been offered to rural applicants only. It’s possible UAdel had a higher decline rate than expected for this cohort.
 
I have received an interview offer from the University of Adelaide. It's a 15 mins phone call interview so I am not sure how to prepare for it. I feel like since it's over the phone it's going to be a bit different from the normal interviews but I haven't found much information on the website about it. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Hi emyl1999, did you get a phone call or did you get the offer through SATAC? I assume you got the offer just today if you are reporting it today.

Hey, just got it through SATAC. No attempt to call or email outside of offer rounds. (not even any email from Adelaide after receiving the offer)
