Monash Monash Medicine: General Entry Discussion

Does anyone know how Monash calculates the final scores by ATAR/UCAT/interview? I know they are weighed 1/3 1/3 1/3, but 1/3 what?
For example, 90%UCAT+ 99.95ATAR , and 99%UCAT + 99 ATAR, which one gets higher position if they have the same interview scores?
There are two common methods used for uni admissions on combination of scores. Because the three components are on different scales (ATAR likely 9x to 99.95, UCAT from 2xxx to 3xxx, Interview from xx to yy who knows) they must be scale-standardised first.

Speculative only but Monash is likely to use z-score. In this method they calculate the mean of each component, then your score is calculated as how far below or above this mean (a value between roughly -3 and +3). For example the mean ATAR of all interviewees is say 98.0, the lowest ATAR gets z-score -3, 98.0 gets z-score 0, 99.95 gets +3 (roughly), other ATARs are in between. Same for UCAT & Interview. The sum of these 3 z-scores is used for final ranking.

The other method is by individual ranks in each component. Say they interview 500 applicants, you get a rank from 1 to 500 in each of ATAR UCAT Interview. The sum of these 3 ranks is used for final ranking. We believe Adelaide uses this method.

How would they rank the atars 1 to 500 if there are multiple people with same atar? Say if the top three all have 99.95 would they arrange it by aggregate?

Yep, monash specifically said they will use aggregate NOT ATAR for selection for Medicine, so you're right, they will arrange by aggregate.

I didn't get one with 99.6 (with SEAS) and 85%ile. Does anyone know why? Do they look at the individual scores of the UCAT sections or something?
Maybe because you dont have MG? And the cut-offs seem to have increased for non-MG local Victorians this year...

Have you tried emailing Monash Medicine Admissions to see if they have added your SEAS bonus points? A friend of mine expecting an interview invite last year didn't get one at first, but when they emailed Monash about it, the uni realised they hadn't added the points! You can even add that you know of someone with an ATAR of 99.10 (without SEAS) and 83rd percentile UCAT who got an interview invite this year.
