Monash Monash Medicine: General Entry Discussion

Hi guys was wondering if anyone knew anything about VTAC preferences. I chose bonded medicine at monash for first preference but i realised that because im a new zealand citizen im not ellgible for a bonded place. My second preference is for ERC at monash which i am elligible for, does that mean monash wont consider me for first round and i wont get a univeristy offer for first round because im inelligible? Also if im a new zealand citizen with no permanence residence am i considered an international or domestic student

If you're not eligible from preference x, the uni will then look at your next preference to see if you're eligible. Nothing to worry about here, if you're eligible for ERC, you'll get it in the same round. I'm just curious why you didn't place unbonded above all your other preferences?

It was a lot of misguideid thoughted, first of i thought it maximised my chances (found out this was a misconception), also wanted to work in places that need medical practitioners the most and thought it would also mean that i could get away from home (realised i could get away from home through unbonded). Appreciate ur help btw :)

Hello again, i just received a bmp place for monash cus i put it first pref instead of unbonded, but im not ellgible to study bmp because im a NZ citizen, what happens now, am i automatically rejected, does that mean ive lost opportunity to receive an offer first round because of this.

You will need to contact Monash Admissions.

Hi guys, I got an email from vtac saying that I received a Monash offer, but when I actually check my course offers on vtac nothing is there yet. Is this the same for you guys?

I believe offers officially come out on VTAC at 2pm :) Congrats btw, see you on campus soon x

Hi guys, I was just wondering what's the better out of the bonded course or extended rural cohort course? Thanks
Usually ERC is preferred as it is basically a normal CSP offer but you spend placements in rural areas - while bonded you have the return of service period

Oops I personally believed BMP was better as: 1. you stay in clayton for the 5 years of medical school 2. you have 18 years to complete the 3 years anyway, and whilst commonly believed as a restriction, may instead give you a new job opportunity

While that may be the case, this "opportunity" is tucked away behind a legal contract . Why not take unbonded (with no contractual obligation) and freely choose wherever you want to work, on your own terms? Even if it means ending up working at the same place as if you were fulfilling your RoS. The end result is the same but with more freedom.
