Monash Monash Medicine: General Entry Discussion

If I don't apply for the dean's rural list, then I don't receive rural bonuses, right?

I see. On top of RA3/98.25 ATAR, I live in an area that is in the bottom 25% of socioeconomic status in Australia. Would I receive any bonuses for this as well? Furthermore, I know this is unrelated to the Monash thread, but are my chances at UNSW much good? What sort of UCAT would I be looking at to be competitive. Thanks - and if this is cluttering up the thread with unrelated stuff, please let me know (idk proper etiquette on this forum). If I could DM you somehow (if you're okay with that), that would be great since I have a lot of questions for admissions hahaha
There’s a UNSW forum. But the UCAT results thread is where we prefer people ask those questions.

Have you applied for SEAS for Monash?

Nope, haven't. Is it possible to apply already?

Would it be appropriate to reply to the UCAT results thread with my scores/rurality/SES and see what they think a reasonable UCAT score will be for entry?

Yep, it would be appropriate.

I’d look at the VTAC site for more info and deduce from there whether you’d be eligible. If so, definitely apply.

Correct. If you don't apply for the Dean's Rural List, then you're considered the same as other metropolitan students.

In regards to the socioeconomic status, UNSW has a gateway program, but for that you'd also need to be in a gateway school, which I doubt you are. If your family has a low income, you can use this on SEAS, but otherwise living in an area with a low socioeconomic status won't change anything.

Also for VTAC you can't apply for SEAS until August.

Monash high requirements are for interstate non-rural. Rural Vic or non-Vic are invited to the same interview round, we believe they have the same requirements.

RA3 98.25 3000+ UCAT you will have excellent chances. Even 2900+ would give you decent chances. Good luck.
Has anyone received monash interstate? Though I don't expect anything. just curious though

99.9 / 97th is possible to get a Monash interstate invite, have to wait see since it changes from year to year.
Thanks! I got monash CSP offer today, overwhelmed! it came out on 1:23 yea

A1 adds: Congratulations ... and see what I told ya ;)
1. I'm optimistic on your behalf you'll get Monash unbonded, it'd be your obvious choice.
2. Otherwise wait for Adelaide upgrade from BMP to CSP, if yes take it.

I was just wondering how likely second round offers are for interstate applicants… should I keep my hopes up that someone will defer and a spot will open up?? Or just give up and look towards other alternatives

Same, I'm still waiting for the email that the registration website says they'll send with account details
I previously enrolled in Monash biomed, I have an account. When I press enroll, it is still showing biomed only.
when you get to WES, please feel free to DM me and see if you have the option to enroll yet.
Also, DM me on discord if you wanna to check stuff, it's easier!
My name is Keiko Utsumi#9351.

Just keep VTAC as it is, some interstates might just reject after all.
you'll know the next round outcomes on Feb 8!

Keep your hopes up! In my year, some offers were given out just days before the semester even started.

Hello, I’m coming to Monash from NSW, can anyone tell me some things I should know about Melbourne (culture, people, etc.)?
Also, just wondering if I have to attend the whole orientation week. Currently I put down only the med specific orientation events but not sure if I should attend every day. It’s a bit hectic for me as I’m moving the day of and would appreciate any info!
You'll get specific med events from the MUMUS facebook group, NO NEED TO sign up for the stuff that's related to medstart. for other events, i'd wait till med orientation events come out first.

my cousin got 99 ATAR, didnot do well with his UCAT (79th) got an interview . He did the interview well. Will he get a chance with third or fourth round offers. He is heart broken as best as I can judge:(

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think third and fourth round offers are few and far between. Has he considered taking a gap year to resit the UCAT?
