Has anyone seen Twilight? I haven't read any of the books, but saw the movie today with friends...and LOVED it. (And then went out and bought the first 2 books haha.) Anyone else?

Was waiting for someone to ask about Twilight on this thread lol. I saw it last week and initially thought it was pretty weird, but I am now a little obsessed (huge understatement!!!) with the whole thing. The Edward and Bella Chemistry has really gotten to me... it's all strange! I've even youtubed interviews, imdb and googled actors. I've been planning to buy the books this week to read during lunch hours at work instead of waiting for the weekend to borrow them at the library.

One thing I fear is that in reading the books, lack in detail and adjustments made by the script writer will ruin the movie for me. Does this make me much less manly? ............

I saw Australia on Sunday and think it was really good. Don't know why a bunch of people are saying it was awful.

Have to admit, the baseball game scene was pretty cool.

I normally enjoy romance. Twilight doesn't qualify though. There was no romancing in that film. They went from not knowing eachother at all to being completely in love with almost no explanation of the relationship.

Honestly though, the special effects were close to non-existent, no romance or action/adventure

Granted the middle was too long, and the boy singing the cattle away from the cliff-face was a bit much, and it was two stories instead of one, but I liked it.

I thought that was sort of explained by when Hugh was saying that nothing scares cattle more than somebody who stands and looks at them straight in the eye, and that's what Nullah was doing when he was singing at them... but who knows.

And yeah it was a few stories kind of muddled but apart from that it was good.

True. I guess i dont mind that kinda romance.

And the special effects are pretty terrible. Every time one of the vamps ran fast or jumped really high or did their whole menacing growl crouchy thing, I wasthinking 'this should be awesome...but it really isnt...'

Anyone seen the official Wolverine Origins trailer? Its pretty awesome, and you get to see a lot more of Gambit. It looks great, im so excited.

And also, Kick-a** is gonna be awesome when it eventually comes out. You heard it here first...

Haha whatever, I think my expectations for Twilight were so low that it was easy for the movie to surpass them. I enjoyed it (except for the bit where they went from not knowing each other to being special lovers. That didn't make sense.)

Am waiting for Australia to come out on DVD so I can fast forward through the boring bits.

Twilight would make for an excellent drinking movie though. Every time Edward does his creepy staring thing you take a shot.

Also, kloudsurfer, I hadn't seen the Origins trailer, thanks for the heads up That movie is looking pretty awesome, but I'm so much more excited for Gambit now than I am for Wolverine's origins >_>

As if the rotunda at the end of Twilight wasn't the coolest rotunda ever. Admit it.

Was a kick *** rotunda.

Yeah them going from practically hating each other to being in love annoyed me even though I'd read the books and understood it.
It really annoyed me when she was waking up in hospital and the oxygen tubes were flicking her eyelashes, and then it zoomed out and they were around her cheeks. It was really obvious.
And the special effects were terrible! Him "shining" in the sunlight!? I didn't even notice. But apparently it was done really low budget.

Also, not expained in the books or movie is how they passed off the vampire attack thing as "falling down some stairs" when she had a massive mouth mark on her wrist?

A bunch of tween girls were sitting behind me in the cinema and literally every time Edward was on screen they'd scream and whistle. For gods sake.

Anyway, I really liked the movie, a lot more than the book.

Saw Twilight once voluntarily, dragged to it a second time. Snooze-fest.
Was dragged to see HSM 3 and it was pretty funny...in ways which I'm sure was unintentional.

Oh My Goodness! I just saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button today! I loved it, it was absolutely amazing and I think the strongest argument I can give is that I no longer hate Brad Pitt... I merely dislike him jks! My opinion is a little biased because I really wanted to see it because of the whole reversal thing,...growing younger, it really intrigued me so I liked it before i went in and so I'd probably like it even if it wasn't any good, if you get what i mean, but it is so its ok I think a few movies have been made where that happens (i can't remember the name of one of them...the plot was about a man trying to figure out a murder of his wife or something...anyone know?). Anyways, having brad pitt in it immediately made me feel a bit hesitant but he actually acts (in between scenes of being topless and giving puppy eyes)! and i think he looks way better as an old man than he does now A good story and it was told very well.

Very sad (a tear or two was shed), quite long but i like long movies! Oh and it was funny in its little ways... i want to see it again! i feel like i've missed out on a few things...they were old and mumbled a lot so couldn't hear what they were saying but yeah, i just can't stop thinking about it! Absolutely adored it!

are you referring to 'memento?' coz that is an awesome movie . also benjamin button was alright imo, though it could have been much better.

Yeah Benjamin Button is a good movie. Almost had me emotional - had to restrain myself out of fear of having to embarrassingly reach for the tissues.

I agree though, there were elements that could've been improved. The authenticity of the background scenery was often questionable - that was irritating.

The characters were memorable - loved the lightning guy. Although Cate Blanchett's character I felt like slapping in the beginning - I guess that was the point though.

I was really touched by the ending narration - was a beautiful way to sum it all up .

"Along the way you bump into people who make a dent on your life. Some people get struck by lightning. Some are born to sit by a river. Some have an ear for music. Some are artists. Some swim the English Channel. Some know buttons. Some know Shakespeare. Some are mothers. And some people can dance."

Ben Button: Thought it was a pretty average story tbh. Acting was very good, CGI was amazing (first time that technique has been used in a major motion picture).
But story was pedestrian minus the getting younger gimic. I felt it was a film in the same vein as Forrest Gump, but just no where near as compelling. There was so much fluff instead of proper character development or plot. The clock? Irrelevant symbolism. The humming bird - just plain irrelevant. So many characters, few of them truely memorable after a week. I think it fell down trying to teach us about mortality and life's virtues instead of telling a proper interesting story and letting the audience read between the lines. I would've prefered a story that wasn't so predictable, than having a humming bird thrust in my face with a shiney tag reading: mortality/spirit gimic; watch for this to reappear at the end to magically tie two unrelated deaths together.

'Burn After Reading' was good if a little slow at the start if you like Coen Bros stuff. So was 'TDK' - although Christian Bale is aweful, the joker was sublime. I also liked 'Tropic Thunder' for Les Grossman . My fav movie of the year was probably 'In Bruges' - I like my comedy black with no sugar.
