Was pretty damn good, I knew when I saw the trailer it'd be at the top of my list to see. It was a bit boring for the first half, but gets quite engaging in the second half. Easy to watch and just think "I'm never going to let that happen to me" but realise that a lot of people have gone through it to some degree.

Since it's the same director as American Beauty, it was always meant to be good. A big thumbs up from me.

Just saw 'Revolutionary Road' yesterday - absolutely loved it. The ending was fantastic (ur right it really picked up in the last 40-50mins). Love the 1950's feel and the dark humour that undercut many of the serious scenes. Mmm definitely a lot better that Slumdog Millionaire (really don't get the hype). Should have been nominated for Best Picture Oscar.

Haven't seen Revolutionary Road yet, but am planning to watch it soon. I agree, I don't see the hype in Slumdog Millionaire. It was a decent film, but no way near as good as the other films circulating nowadays.

just caught Changeling on wednesday! :D it was awesome! angelina jolie portrayed the protagonist with such emotions! on a side note, lawyer wannabes would be very inspired by a certain character.

quantum of solace was nice too! you'll feel the heat when you're watching the movie! oh dont be late for the movie! the beginning was jaw-droppingly cool!

I definitely agree it picked up a helluva lot in the last 40 or so minutes but I wasn't hugely impressed with this movie.

I felt like the setting of the scene was slow and not particularly engaging and then, once you got to the last 40 minutes that I hadn't developed enough of a relationship to the characters to really feel for what they were going through. Essentially there wasn't enough depth to the two characters for me to go with them through their ordeal toward the end of the movie.

There were brilliant aspects to it though, and I feel like the book the story was based on must be a fantastic read.

Went to see Grand Torino last night. Really touching movie, all about forging cross-cultural relationships and whatnot. Thought Eastwood did a decent job as director, and even moreso as the star... For some reason tho, he reminded me of an older, cruder House. Either way, great movie with a somewhat expected (but still fitting) ending.

I watched it last night, and I agree, it is a pretty good movie.
 
Gran Torino was great, not the best acting by the remainder of the cast but was very fitting because life isn't all drama. Lots of funny bits to laugh at surprisingly but very moving in the end. Was great.

Time to watch slumdog millionaire. Very impressed with the quality of movies lately.

Slumdog millionaire is pretty impressive

I watched Slumdog Millionaire tonight. Initially, I was thinking it was a bit underwhelming, but it really picks up towards the middle, and the ending is surprisingly satisfying. I liked how they portrayed the impoverished lifestyle faced by beggar kids, and how it was (kinda) a rags to riches story at the same time. Also found the relationship between the two brothers interesting, though I thought it was kinda lame how he forgave him so quickly and started chatting casually when they were finally reunited near the end of the movie. That said, putting it side-by-side with Gran Torino, I'd have to say they're pretty equal imo. Maybe I enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire a tad more, but that's probably because I can relate to it better... Both decent movies in their own right though!

PS - What was with that random bollywood-esque singing/dance routine that rolled with the credits at the end? All my friends found it hilarious lol :lol:

I'm sure that was there to appeal to the bollywood crowd :lol:. I found myself laughing as well, mainly because I thought it cheapened the movie a bit.

What are you guys' opinions on Seven Pounds? I actually thought it was really good, but, most people tend to put it in the "meh" pile for some reason.... I loved it though!!
 
I have to admit, any attempt Will Smith makes at a serious movie automatically goes in the 'meh' pile for me.
 
Yeah, everyone says that when I make the above comment. I can deal with the odd exception.
 
I didn't enjoy Seven Pounds. It was too long/predictable/what Matt said. Also, the jellyfish part was weird.

Sidenote: everyone who enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire, I suggest you guys watch Kite Runner and The City of God. Those two were much better and the storyline for both were more convincing.
