Oh, I loved Seven Pounds. I loved Will's acting- I'm not used to him playing such serious roles. It may have been predictable, but i actually didn't see EVERYTHING coming- like the weird jellyfish thing, which i thought was clever (even though i am aware it wouldn't make any sense, because it wouldn't have worked).

I know a lot of things weren't accurate (the eye colour thing, jellyfish thing etc) but it was such an interesting movie. I thought it was more interesting than revolutionary road (which was just melodramatic, and slow, and more predictable!). So there! =(

Such a tear fest though. You could hear everyone sniffling at the end and it was the first time i saw people hesitating to leave the cinema( which i assume was because they were embarrassed about crying). Not that crying makes it a good movie, but it does show that it moved a lot of people...

What did you guys think about Changeling? I thought it was good- i even got used to Angelina Jolie by the end (usually i can't adjust to her acting). Such an interesting story- can't believe it's true...

I really really liked Changeling, and I barely knew anything about it before I saw it and I think that helped.

I did enjoy slumdog, also weird seeing Anil Kapoor play the role of the Eddie equivalent.

I think what let it down was the romance of it at the end, the happy ending. While romance and happy endings are great, the only people I believe who have mastered it are the Koreans. Watch any sappy Korean drama or movie, and as cliche or predictable as the storyline may be, it'll get ya.

However I think it was well filmed, with a good story, you appreciate the hardships he's gone through, and the fact he still holds hope. I enjoyed it.

I have city of god on my PC but yet to watch it, will definitely do so when I get time, since it's kinda about a photographer

Hated Seven Pounds, saw the whole "pounds of flesh" redeeming thing from a mile away. It's what probably made the movie seem to go on for so loooong. So boring, not to say the ending was sad and all...

I really really liked Changeling, and I barely knew anything about it before I saw it and I think that helped.

After i watched the movie I got so fascinated i wikipediated (yes, that is a real word ) the whole christine/walter collins case...but there wasn't all that much on it.
The first half of the movie was SO different to the second though, if that makes any sense at all.

And that one scene with the northcott guy at the end....that was really difficult to watch.

Yeah it was, I was half expecting him to shout out another secret or something before it happened.

I think the first half of the movie could have benefitted from a little more suffering on Christine's part, even though that's awful. It would have made the good parts more satisfying.

Yea, that would have helped a little. But either way, the movie was a real eye opener to how corrupt the police were. Pretty astonishing stuff. I left the movie kind of shocked.

I watched Changeling last night and it's very good. What more can you expect from an Eastwood film?

Maybe I'm shallow but I enjoyed Seven Pounds. I go to movies to be entertained and get out of life for an hour and a half. It was light entertainment - Go Will.

I can't really say i care about things like camera shots, directing skills, goofs made, etc. I don't like some of the artsy films, where i feel like i'm being pressured to like the movie due to the actors or the directors or the use of a particularly fancy schmancy camera angle.

I just want some entertainment. I want to feel some powerful emotions- Seven Pounds offered that. So did Changeling (at least around the second half). If I'm still thinking about a movie when i make up the next morning, then for me it is a success.^_^

Haha not at all - it's hard to convey inflection on the web when we don't think about what we write half the time . Was just using your term and wanted to quote it.

But yeah I didn't really know how they influenced my response to a film, and perhaps it doesn't for a lot of people, but the idea is that the entire quality of a film is lifted by the integrity of its component parts, like the different colours of an artwork or the different materials in the construction of a building... something like that anyway.

saw 'slumdog millionaire' today. it was very feel-good, and will probably win best picture

Slumdog was good but I'd be very dissapointed if it won best picture, it was no where near that good. No where near even being close to it.

I watched Ghost Town today, and it was brilliant- it had two of my favourite actors of all time so it's not a huge surprise i was impressed (greg kinnear and ricky gervais, if you're curious).

But actually, it was better than i expected. I didn't find the trailer particularly funny. The movie itself was, by my standards, great. It's got some really brilliant dialogue, and ricky gervais is just fantastic in his role.

And it's kind of sad, too. Which i like...

I cant wait! I went to the movies today and the trailer came on and i was almost jumping up and down on my seat. Im so excited!

Now none of my friends will come see movies with me anymore . Especially sine i did the same thing with Iron Man and The Dark Knight. They all think im crazy now lol

Anyway, Im a bit worried about how it will turn out though. Even putting aside the scale of the whole thing, I hope all the themes and depth dont get taken out of it so its just another superhero action flick. Also, the ending isnt exactly your happy fairytale hollywood ending (without saying too much) I just hope they can pull it off without losing what makes the graphic novel so exceptional.

And on the topic of Iron Man, I actually thought that was a little over-rated...

Apparently they've been really true to the novel and tried to keep the same fairly sombre undertone. I heard they changed the ending a tiny bit, but if they've changed it to what someone told me it'll still be cool and maybe even better.
