And only 15 bucks for a second bag (also up to 25kg), which I think is cheaper system than the one before if you're carrying heaps of stuff.

Sucks for you guys flying on the weekend. It might be a pretty crappy flight if that tropical cyclone Innis crosses straight through the middle of NZ on late friday and early saturday like they are predicting.

Last night at home!! My bags are packed... Took me every bit of effort to close those zip.. Well at least I'll miss the cyclone

Once again koochkooch.. another reason for me to believe that you're going to blow our little study group up.. digitally or otherwise.

Stop being so paranoid! I'm not gonna blow you or our study group up.

Btw what flight are you catching? At what time? And what airline?

:p

Muuhahahahaha, perfect.

Lol just kidding. What are u doing on the computer? Shouldn't u be in the airport??

Hi,

I have been accepted into Otago med through the Competitive Grad category but since my first degree isn't related to med I have to do the HSFY papers although I just have to complete them as pre-requisites as a BSc student, instead of compete with the HSFY students for a place in med.

Is there anyone else in the same situation as me? I am freaking out majorly over having to do a bunch of papers with topics I last had to study nearly 6 years ago!! Esp CHEM191 and HUBS. I did all 3 sciences in Bursary (Form 7) and enjoyed and did well in them but still.. it has been 6 years!

Any helpful advice? (I am a BSc student as opposed to a HSFY student and I'm not competing for a place in med like I said, so please feel free to give me *real* advice :P)

Thanks!

lolol hey max, its nip. lol watch out docca, u know why he wants flight details...elimintate competition before we even get there.

im leaving 23rd. flight goes to christchurch and i get a 30min break b4 going to dunedin. My dads going to help me unpack/buy stuff if i need it and is going back next day. Im getting so envious of people taking gap year...really wish I could study at Auckland and apply @ otago at the end of the year . Biggest worry is probably UMAT at this point

Haha...my flight stops at Christchurch as well; indirect flight to Dunedin. I was scanning through the 1st yr biomed lecture slides and exam papers, and in comparison to HSFY, it is undoubtably harder. I'm sure skyglow will agree with me. Btw; can everyone who wants to join our group please send me a pm saying "I'm in" just so I can finalise the numbers and get your details etc. (:

There's a guy in med who had done 7th form like 6 years ago I think too, hadn't done any Uni after that, worked really hard in HSFY and got A+ in all the papers, so it's definitely possible :)

This is all quite exciting. Everyone's really nice.. I was the only fresher here last night and pretty much got bullied around by all the 2nd and 3rd years.. Can't wait till the other freshers get here to share the load.. lol. And it's impossible to remember so many people's names.

Just got my course approved and ID photo taken.. Man the line was long as.. and I look so sleazy haha.

Hey skyglow,

Thanks for the reply, that's pretty inspirational stuff!! I think I can cope with biology cuz i love it so much but chemistry...I just hope it doesn't slaughter me :'(

Hope you're enjoying 2nd year btw skyglow :)

Cheers

Good stuff on being admitted! :D

I been looking through the HSFY papers from last year and they're pretty damn easy tbh. Definately easier than the papers we did in Auckland. Some lectures are only ~8 slides long lol.
If you've already got a degree and did bursary sciences (same as me) you won't struggle at all. In fact since you don't have to compete with the 'sweet valley highs' (the nickname us supergrads have given the HSFYs) just enjoy your year.

Man I'm so glad I've done my course approval already.. The line is MASSIVE!!!! You guys are in for some serious waiting.. I was thinking we meet up sometime after O week.. Or maybe before if some are keen, but I live at Knox so it's not as easy for me to get to uni but if you guys insist I wouldn't mind.

Just don't be a stereotypical over-eager health sci and go uber early, cause that's what everyone does so there's a massive line in the morning. At lunch time there's like hardly any line at all.

Haha yeah i went at 9 on monday... bad mistake although i managed to cut the lines with sneaky use of friends already in the line!
We dont have any internet yet at my hall so Ive had to come to the library to get online...
Im a bit tired from getting woken up at 4.30 by water baloons! Haha
