I was wondering, to those who were here last year - are you seeing more 3000+ scores posted on the Results Discussion thread this year than last? It feels like most people here this year are getting 3000 or above 👀 or is that just the norm

People who hang out on a forum for medical school admissions tend to be more motivated and able than the general applicant pool. Don't take the scores you see here as representative of any larger trend.

I can't answer this question because I wasn't following last year's thread, so better wait for someone else to answer that, but I will say this: the scores posted on here are in no way representative of the entire UCAT cohort because
a) on average, people on MSO are more motivated to pursue med/dent and therefore are more likely to have higher scores
b) people with higher scores are more likely to discuss them
So I think it's really important not to feel discouraged or worried, as the only way you can make any conclusive statements regarding your results is once the percentiles/deciles come out for 2020.

After scoring between 2700-3000 in most of my mocks I’m absolutely gutted. I didn’t expect to score as well as some of you on here (amazing scores honestly!), but I was confident of getting in the ball park.

VR:
It just wasn’t my day unfortunately. From the get go I struggled to comprehend the information in VR and found reading in general extremely taxing. I don’t know if I had just burnt out or whether a combination of small factors outside my control contributed to me resembling a potato (gotta try to laugh). I ended up literally going through the answer options and choosing the most logical answers as I quickly ran out of time.

DM:
Overall I thought this section was around the level of the official mocks, with a few questions containing medium length passages. I honestly felt like I had performed well in this section, but Clearly must have made some silly mistakes.

QR:
Going into this I was confident of getting 800+ in QR, but I made silly reading errors which in term wasted precious time. As has been stated by the majority, QR was definitely easier than the mocks (unfortunately I had nothing left in the tank after DM) with most questions resembling easier ones from the official mocks.

AR:
This section should have been better, but unfortunately it took a while for me to warm into it. I flagged and skipped the first few sets and got a few through the middle, then hit a block again. Managed to cycle back through a 2nd time but only got managed to answer 1 set with confidence.

Overall the testing centre was fairly good, very little noise, and a well ran check in process. My only negative comments would be that the desks were quite narrow, Leaving little room to fit the booklet.

Part of me knows that on another day I’d have performed so much better, and that is what hurts the most...
Nevertheless I’ll be back next year, with lots of lessons learnt along the way!

Hey! Thank you for posting here:) I had my Ucat today too and after scoring around 2900 on average in mocks, I know today wasn't my best performance. Before going into the test, I was so confident and even thought of posting my score here afterwards. But walking out of the exam, I went in my car and cried my heart out. I am too scared to even open my results (YES that's how bad it is hahhaaa). As a side note, this was my second time sitting the exam. Last year, I scored 2730 and I think I may have gotten lower this year :( Anyways, I'll probably find out next week or so when I've found enough courage to open my results lol. So yea, you're not alone

Hey thanks for reaching out! It’s super tough falling short of your goals, so I commend you for not giving up and having another crack this year!
Regardless of what happens keep at it 💪

There was another person on here that cried and got 3000+ so don't be afraid of your results. I know a friends from last year who felt terrible after their test but ended up doing quite well and had your averages. He's studying med right now. Stay strong.

Congrats on finishing and for doing a great job.

It's so interesting that you've highlighted the above as a current hope because we really did have an influx of people realising they'd made application errors too late in the game to do anything about it last year, so this is something really important to be aware of! Good on you for identifying this and best of luck!
Can u elaborate on what you mean by application errors please?

Hey! Thanks fo replying :). I've thought about getting a good score too. But thinking of that and opening my results to see a 2000 will really hurt. So I think I'm gonna try to come to terms with a bad score before opening my score :)

Nah it was like this as well where you have a whole bunch of 3000s and then you think the average is like 3000+ for a 90+ percentile. Rest easy this is looking how it looked last year.

Gotta miss last year and how people were panicking that 3000 would be 90th percentile a week into the 1 month examination period.

Assuming 20 odd thousand kids sit the UCAT ANZ, we should expect around 800 3000+ scores in total (again, I’m assuming this is the 96th percentile). Since the MSO community are generally high achieving there’ll be quite a lot of people among these 800 candidates.

Also there would be a significant response bias.

I know of one student who didn't check her UMAT score at all. Her thinking was if it's good enough she will know when she receives interview invites. Turned out she didn't receive any.
